I just read online that Milk Thistle may cause increased levels of Rifampin and Zoloft.

I asked her LLMD before I read this , he said she could take it, but he doesn't use liver support.

I don't want to cause her any harm, What are you using for liver support while on Rifampin and Minocycline ?

I am afraid of using NAC as read can cause adverse effects in some.

Any help for this worried Mom

My son was on rifampin for months, and will be back on it shortly (had to disco all abx due to GI issues). We never used any supplement that was intended to directly impact liver function.

He had liver function tests every 2-4 weeks during that time, and never showed any abnormalities.

My personal opinion - if LFTs show abnormalities after starting rifampin, the MD should drop it. If LFTs are normal on rifampin, the liver function supplements were not needed anyway.

My son takes Rifampin and has for months
He is only 12 and his liver enzymes bump
up one month just above normal.
Our LLMD reccomended Milk Thistle.
It works great and he did not need to
come off the abx.
