I have been having major heart problems the past week and a half. It happens mostly at night around 9pm and lasts several hours.
I get palps, heard thuds, forceful beats, missed beats some mild chest pain and shortness of breath.
What I don't understand is why it is always at the same time everyday. I get some of thee symptoms other times during the day but this nightly thing is every day and i very severe.
I can't sleep or lie down when it is happening. I'm afraid if I go to the ER they won't find anything wrong. I'm afraid if I don't go, I will die of heart failure or something.
Help!

What are you taking? How long have you been on it?
I had that with babesia.

I treated babs many times with mepron, biaxin, and artemisinin. My air hunger was not going away. So, my LLMD thinks bart now. The air hunger is much better after two months of rifampin.
These heart sysmptoms started with rifampin and septra DS. I stopped the septra but it did not go away.

It's safest to get it looked at. Have you talked to your LLMD about it?

Ok, just got off the phone with my LLMD.
I will be getting a 48 hour holter monitor done as soon as I can find someone to do it. I'll have to call around tomorrow.
He prescribed a beta blocker (atenolol sp?)as well. He is also referring me to a cardiologist that may know something about lyme in the heart (of course I have my doubts about this).
All in all, we are doing everything we can at the moment and we will have a new treatment plan when I see him next week.
thank you for your replies, it always helps to know there are others sharing in your trials.

My neighbor had that really bad until treating for bart.
The beta blocker really helped her though.
Sending you positive thoughts and prayers.
I know how scary it is.
I have missed my magnesium the last couple of days
And my heart always lets me know.
Yikes!
Hugs,

I had those same kinds of symptoms before being diagnosed with anything, and for me the symptoms always seemed to worsen around 8-9pm.
I went to the ER twice in a week for this, and they never found anything and of course just told me it was panic.
One of the doctors finally sent me to a cardiologist, who found nothing, of course.
Things have gotten better since treatment (Doxy and Rifampin), but I still get those symptoms occasionally.

Blinkie, Are you feeling better on the atenolol? Hopefully you picked up your rx yesterday so you could take last night. I really hope it helped you relax and get a good night's sleep.
Keep me posted!

My dysautonomia symptoms (ie. tachycardia, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, dizziness/vertigo) began only when I started treating babesia (though I haven't treated bart). These symptoms got worse when I added artemisinin, which reinforces to me that my issues are babesia-related.
Did you have any heart issues or dysautonomia symptoms while treating babesia? Your current heart issues may be from being off babesia treatment?
I don't know enough about bart to know if it is commonly a culprit in tachycardia and other heart issues.
I do know that Rifampin interacts with MANY other drugs, so you might want to explore the possibility of medication interactions (even undocumented ones) or simply side effects from the Rifampin alone.
Good luck and again, make sure to keep us posted!
