I took bactrim last month for 28 days. It really did help my babs symptoms alot but the last few days or so my tongue began to burn and feel strange. Not sure if it was yeast or just a problem with taking the drug. No other rashes or swelling was noted.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this strange side effect?

Thanks!

HI Katrina,

How are you feeling overall? Hope your new treatment is going well.

I had done bactrim a year ago, and I felt it helped me also. I never had any problmes with my tongue on bactirm. Have you called your doctor?

There are many people who are allergic to bactrim, so I would take caution, espeically if this is a new symptom.

Hope you are doing better,
Marcie

I had the feeling of a lump in my throat while on bactrim, but that could have been due to yeast as well. llmd is not sure. I ended up having to stop bactrim because it is a sulfa drug and my kidney's didn't process it well. My creatine levels would be slightly above normal and my llmd wanted it stopped.

Bactrim is a very nasty drug. I took it for a while and the inside of my mouth started peeling, my tongue was burning and inflamed. It is called TOXIC EPIDERMAL NECROYSIS (T.E.N) TEN affects many parts of the body, but it most severely affects the mucous membranes, such as the mouth, eyes, and vagina. The first nose and throat specialist I went to, told me it was "acid reflux". I went to another doctor who freaked out when he saw my mouth and told me to stop the bactrim immediately...
Apparently, it is a known side effect that doctors never mention. Don't insist if you have a bad reaction.
