Can anyone tell me why Nutramedix's products have 20-25% ethanol in their products and why we should purchase these if there is alcohol in there?

Thanks.

This is what I have gotten in the past:

Most patients have problems with standard alcohol products since they are sensitive (possibly allergic) to the grains used to make them. The alcohol in the products from Nutramedix is not from grain; it is present for stabilization and, very importantly, to transport the nutrients into the cells. Furthermore, their liquid extracts are recommended to be diluted in water, and the usual dosage ranges from 1 drop to 30 drops. When 30 drops are mixed into 4 ounces of water, the alcohol content is less than one half of one percent. Many ripe fruits contain far more alcohol than this.

Most liquid extracts on the market contain a type of alcohol that denatures (damages) protein. The extraction method used by Nutramedix to produce the products yields a final product that contains alcohol that does not denature protein. This can be demonstrated by putting drops of the extract in egg whites, a very good representation of pure protein. Unlike the alcohol extract products of other companies, the extracts, when added to the clear egg whites, will not turn them white. The alcohol in the products is actually not harmful, unlike the alcohol found in most other extracts currently produced.

If there is still an objection to the alcohol, it can be depleted from the extract by using water that does not exceed 105 F (40 C). Mix the drops with warm water, let sit for at least 10 minutes and most of the alcohol will be depleted. As long as the water does not exceed 105 degrees F the extract will not be damaged, but the nutrients in the extract will not be properly transported into the cells.

Be well,
Scott
