the pain was been getting worse so off to the doctor. my very lower back and below the navel are really sore and hurt. sitting is painful.

it's a fallen bladder....ugh...

options are some kind of device called episary (i think), or surgery....he didn't think hormones will help at this point.

apparently it's far enough down to warrant some kind of tie-up.

i didn't understand half of what he said. anybody know anything about this kind of thing? can lyme cause something like this.

mom and one sister had the surgery. said it worked for them.

Hi randibear,

Here's the Mayo Clinic website's description of a prolapsed bladder, called a cystocele:

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/cystocele/DS00665

...sounds like your doctor may have recommended a pessary, which is described in the notes above

So sorry you have this.:-(

My mom has this. She had surgery and it did not help. Hers is really bad and she has to wear absorbent underwear.

I don't know how bad yours is but keegle exercises and making sure you are not straining when you go to the bathroom are helpful.

In my view, lyme affects muscle so this *could* be caused by lyme. I think it is fairly common though and there are many who have it who don't have lyme.

Glad you found out now rather than later. Maybe you can do something to help it get better? I really have no idea but it seems like it wouldn't hurt to get another opinion before you have surgery and maybe see an ND who specializes in women's problems in case they have some useful input. Just a thought.

Terry

...and if it's caused by a lack of muscle control due to Lyme, then it can be reversible?

I have a cystocele and rectocele (you can figure that last one out). If you have had kids, or if you are post-menopause, cystoceles are quite common. I wouldn't think it would be related to Lyme, although, for awhile, I did attribute the discomfort to neuro Lyme(until I found out the cause).

Some people do a pessary, a device that is inserted internally and holds the bladder up. Kegel exercise can help if the cystocele isn't too advanced. I have a friend who had surgery, but I am going to try to avoid it for as long as I can, personally.

I go to the women's room maybe 10 times more than most people!

May I suggest...

I avoided this surgery by taking a supplement.

It repairs and strengthens muscles and muscle tissue.

It prevented me from having a hysterectomy and bladder surgery.

It is called L-Glutamine. Powdered form- pharmacutical grade only with NO additives.

Mix recommended amount in water once a day and drink it. No taste and no smell. Very easy.

It is used to treat "leaky gut syndrome" and repairs damaged musle and other tissues in the gut and elsewhere.

Body builders use it to repair damage to muscle tissue after they do their workouts.

Try it for 6 weeks, daily. Be sure to have medical advise of course, as I am not a doctor.

I think it was about week 3 or 4 when I started noting improvement.

Ever since then I have had no problems and mine were VERY severe.

Knock on wood!!!!

I took it along with other meds.

Do NOT mix it up and then sip on it it all day long. Drink it then and there.

Leaving it out or exposing it to moisture makes it "ammonia like".

I notced no side effects other than once my gut lining was getting better I was literally feeling starved all the time.

I was told to eat whatever I craved... because my body had shut down from wanting food and was not getting vitamins and minerals from them because of the leaky gut.

Once the leaky gut resolved, my body woke up and wanted what it lacked and needed to function.

Others have used this with success and it has been reported to ease the pelvic pain in some too.

Hope it helps.

Both my sister and Mom had this.

Both had surgery.

My sister still loses urine when coughing/sneezing, jumping, etc.

My Mom has to wear incontinent pads.

Neither one is a "success" surgery.

Do some homework.

Talk to others in your area and see what their experience has been.

It was a pretty big surgery with recovery of about 2-3 weeks.

Hugs,

Geneal

I had a tubal done in 2001. My doc said mine had

fallen and he went ahead and tied it up while

there. He also took care of some other minor

problems while there. Getting a great surgeon is

the best we can do. I have a girlfriend who I

suspect has Lyme. Diagnosed with chronic fatigue,

has to wear O2, sleep apnea, thyroid, you name

it. She was a cheerleader for 6 years when she

was young. She got a pessary it did help some. Her

doc says he has never seen anything like hers.

Her opening was too big for the largest pessary

they make. It had laxed that far.

Yes I took her a test kit but I can't make her

take it. G's right do your homework and then decide.

Yes, I had this back in Jan. '02. It was on a Sunday and I had a bad cough. All of a sudden I felt some sort of hot, bulging, painful "something" LITERALLY coming out of my private area.

I went to the bathroom with a hand mirror to look and see what was going on. I was expecting to see a baby's head crowning!!! LOL! I yelled for my husband to come look and he said "I'm not sure what that is, but it doesn't look like it normally does!!" (Later, I thought that comment was funny, but not at the time.)

When I looked in the mirror, I was horrified to see my "insides" coming out of me. My lower back and area below my navel hurt like crazy. And yes, it hurt to sit or walk. I actually held myself when I had to walk.

I called my gynecologist the minute they opened on Monday morning and told them the gory details. I swore to the nurse that my insides were coming out and that I could SEE them! The nurse told me that she doubted that I was really falling out, but they were able to see me the next morning.

I remember my gynecologist setting me up to do a pelvic, but the second she took a look at me she said, "Oh honey.......you poor thing.....you weren't kidding, you ARE falling out!" She immediately told me that I was going to have to have a hysterectomy because everything was caving in and falling out.

Since I had such a bad cough, I had to wear a pessary for TWO MONTHS before I had the surgery in March '02. This pessary was so big, that I had to go to the Med. Center every 3 days to have the doctor change it for me. She didn't want me to even try.

I was 42 and had already had 3 BIG babies that pretty much taken their toll on me inside, plus I had been having lots of flooding problems, some endometriosis and ovarian cysts. I even was having to self-cath due to bladder problems.

So, it was time to do the hysterectomy, put my bladder in a sling, and do some other internal repairs. After 2 long months of the pessary changes, I finally had the hysterectomy!

The surgery, recovery, etc. wasn't a walk in the park for me, but they did a lot of procedures internally ------ more than the typical surgery. I'm thrilled that I had it all done because it took a lot of problems off my plate.

I'm not saying YOU need a hysterectomy, but I think they can just pull your bladder up in a less invasive procedure ------- however I could be mistaken. I imagine they can though.

I will say (from experience only) that you won't want to have to deal with the pessary issue for a long time. See what your options are. Ask your doctor what you can do to improve your particular situation. Everyone is different and your doctor will help you come up with the best solution.

Good luck to you! (Sorry for all the gross details, but it's something I'll never forget! I laugh about it now because it was so unbelievable and my doctor's reaction was priceless!)

I know you'll find the right solution for YOU! Keep us posted, okay? (Or you can PM me, which I probably should have done to reply to you. Sorry guys!)

Take care,
terri3boys

well i do love my obgyn. i won't let anybody even near me except p. he's the one that all the nurses at the hospital go to.

and wouldn't you just know, the man is drop dead gorgeous!!!! how embarassing....

the pain has lessened, but to describe it (sorry read no further if you're gonna gross out on me).

there is something just inside the vagina that when it push it moves back up. sort of feels slippery and like, well, a ball, but it's small.

i am leaking urine almost constant, a small dribble, but i can feel it.

when i go poo, i bleed occasionally and the itching is enough to make me want to claw my big bottom off.

i am grossly overweight, 190 at 5 feet, but hey i am dieting and exercising but i quit because of this (the exercise) cause it made me hurt worse.

below my navel and across from hip to hip is really sore....

could be either bladder or uterus. altho i had a partial hysterectomy in 97 due to a ruptured cyst on the ovary. dang, can't remember if they took the uterus. mike doesn't remember, thinks they only took the one ovary, but i'm not real sure.

i'm going to get a physical this week.

wouldn't you just know it. this is the week the mike decided he HAS to drive to taos/santa fe for a two week vacation.

i think this is something we're going to have to put off until i get this figured out. cause there's no way in hell i can sit i a truck and camp for two weeks with this doing on.

i'll let you now what i find out.

dang, if it ain't lyme, it's something else. i feel like "go ahead and take everything, do the tummy tuck, butt job, boob job, make me a little taller and don't touch the drawl...." LOL....

i had the same thing your talking about (a rectocele & cystocele) so when they did mu Hysterectomy they supposedly fixed all that. well the rectocele was a bust, i still have the same problems.

as far as the bladder, the mesh they used on me is now trying to exit my body( i hesitate to tell you where)
if i would have known how many women have problems with the mesh they use to hold up the bladder i'd have never done it.

i do know years ago, they used our own muscles & tissues that are in there to tack the bladder up, it dosnt last forever, but you wont reject it either.

now i'm looking at another surgery to take the mesh out.practically every woman i have talked to that has the sling proceedure done says it dosent last very long.

there is also a mesh they use that is made of pig cadaver skin thet tends to not do what the plastic mesh is doing to me

you might ask your Dr about that.just please do all your homework on your options. it sure sux having these problems.

good luck,
Kat

I read that these problems started for females once humans stood up on two legs...due to gravity. Maybe we should go back to crawling on all fours.
