If anyone has tried either of these protocals, please tell us your experience with them. I am trying to decide which way to go. And if anyone has a good doc for either, please pm me. Thank you so much, Jan

I've attempted both, and neither were successful. Had the most success with methylcobalamin B12 shots and ABX. See a LLMD.

I'm from Illinois, too, and see a LLMD in Springfield, MO. I hear thee is a doc now treating Lyme in Illinois, but haven't checked it out yet. I'll keep you posted.

I used the full Cowden Protocol for 6 months and liked it.

LLMD added abx about the 3rd month in as I was too weak to walk the 10 min the forest as I was doing being going off abx.

LLMD also suggested the Bruher program. Need to read the book on that one...my reading skills come and go....mostly go so waiting for that window of opportunity.

I like Buhner better. I go to Dr. H in NY and he understands both protocols. He will also prescribe abx or anti-malarials in conjunction with them as needed.

I like Buhner Protocol and love his book. I have recently completed 12 weeks on Buhner and am feeling pretty good. But this is after years on ABX first.
I tried Buhner last Fall and had to stop because the neurological symptoms came back & became scary, and I went back on ABX.

This time, I have continued to feel well on Buhner, no neurological flare-ups or scares, so I am excited to have a change from ABX.

I think (but not certain) that Cowden is more expensive than Buhner, and both are more expensive than ABX if you have insurance for ABX.

And Buhner involves swallowing a lot of pills, which does not bother me. But still: 16 pills 3 or 4 times a day. I have been successful on Buhner taking the pills only 3 times a day, as opposed to his recommended 4 times a day.

I am glad I decided to try Buhner a second time - but ABX has played a bigger role in helping me get better.

Six and ESG--
Which herbs did you take and in what quantities did you find them helpful? Also, did either one of you have headache as a symptom? My son is doing better on abx at present but nothing has touched his 24/7 headache.

Would appreciate the info.

Thanks,
Nancy
