Has anyone else had this type of reaction to chit-o-power?

Some background first...
My gf has been taking chitosan to reduce her lyme rifing herx. She's been taking 500mg/day for the past 6 days. It's the regular chito, there is no mention about `nano' on the bottle. She is not allergic to shellfish.

I did research and found some topics here with adverse reactions specifically to the nano version of chitosan, however I've also seen people mentioning some very good reactions for herxing and overall well being from both the nano and regular versions of it...

We have not been able to have her vitamin d levels checked before or after as she has not been able to leave the house for the past 8 months due to extreme fatigue and crashing if she does anything. She has not been on any abx for last 6 months due to gi issues. We've started using a rife machine in the last month.

After 4-5 days of 500mg/day chit-o-power she started feeling that her glands on her throat were very swollen and toxic-feeling. Existing pain in her wrist had started to increase.

On day 5 she tried a double dose of chito at 1000mg as we thought her symptoms could be an increased lyme/babs herx from the rifing.

On day 6 there was joint and muscle pain all over her body. Her skin was sore all over too. She got a low grade fever, goose bumps and was shivering a lot.

By day 7 today some of those symptoms have decreased thankfully. She will not be taking chito for now anymore and taking omega fishoils and vitamin d supplements to replenish what this binder probably removed.

Has anyone experienced these kinds of symptoms with chit-o-power?

The only way to test if it is indeed a reaction to the chitosan is to wait until she has recovered from this reaction completely and then do a test run of chitosan. It could be that her ill symptoms are coincidental and due to a virus or bacteria.

I have experimented with chitosan (originally 9 years ago) and figured it was best to take it on an empty stomach. I had to make sure I took it several hours before/after my antibiotics so it didn't absorb them instead of the toxins.

I actually bought a pound of loose chitosan. I thought I could mix it with water and drink it. No. It sticks to every mucuous membrane and almost made me choke. [puke] I found that if I mixed guar gum and lemonade with it, I could swallow it. I was taking like a quarter cup a day. It constipated me, so I had to add some senna leaves to the "cocktail". I ended up giving up on it and going back to the pill form. At the time, I thought it had benefits.

Lyme is like the flu. You can get it and recover, but you can always get it again.
