been there did it, i have also been cathed in the hospital. and the urine measurment thing is way different.
they use a tiny cath,it's so little you can even urinate around the tube. they make you urinate while it's in there to measure how much control you have over your bladder.
i was a little crampy afterward, and it was uncomfortable when they filled up my bladder, but that was about the extent of the pain.
girl, if that bladder & utereus are where thier supposed to be, leave it alone!!! dont make the mistake i did by getting a lift just to control the urine leakage
also did you know if your low in hormones, it will dry out your urethera along with your vaginal walls & make you more succeptible to infections.
so maybe thats why your having uti's so often, now that i look back on it i think that was my prob the whole time.
i was in premenopause & didn't even know it.

I had the tests done a couple years ago. I used a uro-gynecologist at Baylor-DAL. He is really nice, caring, and thorough.
It was quite an embarasing ordeal. Only pain was a few abdominal cramps. Part of the tests requires an IV. Total test is 1+ hours and done in a sterile room. You have to hold the urine until your bladder is extended as far as it will stretch, that was a little uncomfortable.
And yes, the catherization was like any other cath I've had done.
It measures how well your bladder holds liquid w/o losing it, how long it takes to drain the bladder, and if you void about the same amount you take in.
I have had a hysterectomy, hence, no uterus and yes, I need the surgery.
Jessie86, I would like to know what problems you had having the lift. Could you PM me so I can get a general ideal of the outcome?
I do know that after having the bladder lift surgery you cannot lift anything over a few pounds.

I had the tests done a couple years ago. I used a uro-gynecologist in des moines. pretty much the same as above.
worst things were:
a small room with NO AIR CIRCULATION and they could not put a FAN in there, so i had them leave the door open 6-8". drs. were walking by but i didn't care!
also kept sliding OFF the vinyl recliner with hole cut out to go!
dx: bladder SPASMS!
they put me on rx med; ENABLEX but it finally got me stopped for incontinence brought on by my hip replacement surgery.!!

Yes, I have a friend that has incontinence from double hip replacement and radiation for cervical cancer. Her doctor gave her Enablex and it solved her problem of leakage.
But, like me, my tests showed I needed repair surgery (rectocele?) as well as the bladder suspension with a mesh sling.
I have been too sick to have the surgery + I am a big coward.

proceedure if I was going to do it. It may be they
can determine if something is wrong by other means less invasive. US, IVP, PET?
