Saw my PCP today for some fungal issues and mentioned that I hadn't slept for the past 5 nights .

When I am about to drift off to sleep my heart and breathing seem to stop. The doc thought that my EKG was abnormal becuase of this.

I am to get a CPAP/BiPAP but have to wait another week until my appt. I can't imagine going through this every night until then!

Anyways, at ER they did an x-ray, re-did EKG, and cardio enzymes...everything panned out ok, but I can't imagine going another week with my heart/breathin/non-sleep.

UUUUUGGGGGGGG!

Feelfit - I'm sorry to hear about your sleep problems. My husband is going through sleep problems as well.
We are sending his blood off to Igenix on Monday to see if he may also have Lyme.
I hope you will discover the cause of your sleep problems and be able to sleep again soon. Sorry I can't offer any help except to pray for you.
Best wishes,
-p

feel,

i can totally relate to that suffocating (terrifying) feeling when you wake up gasping thinking you are going to die in your sleep.

hopefully the cpap will give you relief. my husband uses one for sleep apnea and he says it really helps him get a better night sleep.

glad your heart is in good shape.

This has been happening to me since I started treatment last year in different degrees depending on what medications I am taking.

The meds that prevent me from sleeping entirely and make me feel like I am going to die- I just stop them right away.

I had a sleep study and it only showed very slight obstructive sleep apnea. I would be interested in knowing if your CPAP helps you with this.

Does you doc know why this happens? I would love to know what the cause is.

Sorry you have to go through this and I hope it resolves for you quickly! It is very scary!

Yikes! I'm so sorry you are going through this. The heart stuff is the pits, just downright scary.

Do you think this is from the rife machine you just started using?

I hope you are able to get some relief soon.

I bought my husband a big cushy recliner to sleep in for severe apnea. He had to sit up to breath

and even then I had to wake him to breath. He had refused to go to doc to find out what was wrong.

I could not force him. He eventually did with heart issues 2 years later. He had so much fluid

built up (pericardia effusion), around his heart he had to consult specialist. It took 9 months to

get his thyroid up to level. He weighed 300lbs. Now he is back to normal at 170. His apnea has

since resolved and no longer uses cpap. The chair may help you in the beginning.

This could be dangerous!! Please call your sleep doctor NOW! They should be able to arrange for you to have a CPAP now rather than later.

I hope you get some help quickly and can finally get some sleep.

Hi FF,

I'm so sorry....I too am hopeful your post about feeling awesome is sooner than later.

I tell ya...I am not one who thinks "everything is Lyme Disease." However, heart, breathing, poor sleep etc...just another, not uncommon, manifestation/cascading of crazy symptoms, ya think? No doubt in my mind. Any chance you could get your CPAP appt moved up? Hopefully, it will provide some relief and really help.

I mean, no sleep is a form of torture, right? Not to mention grasping for air being both scary and dangerous, ugh.

I am sending healing thoughts your way...please do keep us posted. TS

Guys,

I called to get my CPAP appt. changed. I live in a rural area. the doctor is in only 2 days per week. They are triple bloked on Monday and my appt. is the next time that they are in on Friday./

It is only a consult. I have to go in NEXT Monday for the actual sleepover and titration. At first they told me that I had to establish with them and re-do the sleep study as mine was done in Florida just before I came back to MI.

In any case, I asked the sleep center nurse if anyone has sx like mine and she said she has not seen this presentation.

EVERY time that I am about to drift off to sleep, I am jolted awake by breathing and sometimes heart. This goes on for 5 hours. At about 5 am it suddenly stops and I am able to sleep.

I am wiped out! I called my LLMD and they said to treat my fungal issues and call back in a week! This is such a scary lonely disease.

Your symptoms do sound very scary. I wonder what changes at 5 am. I hope you get an answer soon.

Feelfit,

I don't know if this is quite the same, but for awhile I had something similar.

Just as I was falling asleep, literally right on the edge of passing into sleep, I would get JOLTED awake with involuntary (electric sensation) leg jerks, pounding/rapid heartbeat, followed quickly by a hotflash. It was almost a violent experience.

Some nights this happened repeatedly, each time I was just about to pass into sleep. Mine usually quit by 3 a.m.

It was horrible, and really made going to sleep an angstful process.

I guess that's different than yours, but there is some similarity so I thought I'd chime in.

I hope the fungal treatment cures you fast (ha ha).

vallapalla,

aounds similar. I am now terrified to shut my eyes. Last night was not as bad, it was only the breathing that jolted me and not the heart.

I'm just so tired and can't sleep.

nOT sure about the 5 am thing, but it has been consistant.

I have it until 5 a.m. also. Detoxing before bed helps reduce this for me so that I can sleep better much of the time.

Feelfit- would you mind sharing what medications you are taking if any. Just wondering if they are similar to mine. Thanks.

Thank you Ivy and Kelly.

Ivy, I am not on any meds since this started! I have been in between meds. Prior to last week I was on Diflucan. And befgore that Mepron and Zith for 2 months. Ivy what do you use to detox before bed?

I did do a Rife treatment which was my first one week ago today this started after that, but I don't know if there is a connection.

I'm a bit confused though. Your GP said your EKG was abnormal or he thought it was??? huh?

It would make me feel better if someone would stay

with you and wake you if you have the apnea. Laying

on your side with a big pillow/pillows/concrete

block, blocking your way to the back sleep

position will help till you can get a cpap.

I am so sorry. What horrible symptoms to have to live with [Frown] You must be exhausted from not sleeping well not even counting the tbds fatigue.

I hope your dr friday will be able to tell you something to control your symptoms so you can sleep without symptoms... and sleep without worrying.

I hope your symptoms are controlled soon. [group hug]

This makes me so mad. Isn't the doctor worried about liability or does he feel that since he didn't do the sleep study he has no liability?

Can they put you on a cancellation list? My brother and I both noticed that lots of people don't show up for sleep studies. Can't he get you in on an emergency basis?

Can your GP pull any strings? I know you are already scared and I hate to bring this up but remember that young guy (lyme patient whose wife let us know that he had passed) who had a sleep study one night and the next night, before he could get a machine, he died in his sleep?

I'm very worried for you. Maybe you need to have a hissy fit. That is if you think it might get you closer to getting a machine.

Isn't there anyone else who can get you in sooner? How about the guy in Florida who did the original sleep study? Maybe he can pull strings or maybe he can get you in? I know it would be difficult to go back to Florida but it might be worth it.

Terry

Yes Terry! I have thought about Carl a lot!!

There is no cancellation list because they are only there 2 days per week. I am seeing them one of the days (friday). Meanwhile, I guess if something horrible happens....oh well.

TuTu, My EKG was irregular, or so my PCP thought. They re-did it in ER and they said it was not abnormal in their eyes. I don't understand either.

Anyway, I try to stay on my side and am not even really sleeping anyways. I am not taking any sleep aid or anything because the ER doctor said it would supress my breathing even more.

thank you friends for your support.

feelfit,

ask them for you to try a PILLOW CUSHIONED NOSTRL mask; NOT a full mask! this is my 2nd attempt; working good for me!!

4 yrs. ago used full mask; DID NOT WORK AT ALL!

do you have to do the 2 separate nights also?

since i have night owl sleep hours, i went in at midnight and stayed until noon or 1 pm next day! they didn't like it, but told them ... this is MY hours, and they had someone present for this!

best wishes; hugs and kisses.... talk to you tomorrow night!
