I was told by a friend today that IV is typically used by patients with neurological issues only. He specifically said IV rocephin is used for patients with neuro lyme issues only. Is this true?
I do not have neuro issues - just bladder pain, tingling, mild fatigue - so is it likely IV will expedite the healing process?

From what I've read here and online, yes you are correct - for neuro Lyme when orals fail.

"Tingling" would fit into the neuro category in my opinion- peripheral neuropathy perhaps.

So if I have tingling sensations in my hands and feet, it would be OK to take IV rocephin? I am researching and seem to be getting conflicting stories. Thanks so much for your replies!

My daughter was put on IV after two months of orals were not helping her much. We just went off IV after being on for almost 4 months. She is GREAT!
She had some tingling and her jaw quivered a few times and her hands were a little shaky but most of her symptoms were joint pain, muscle aches, shortness of breath, headaches, general malaise etc.
She is now symptom free....
Putting her on IV was the best treatment for her.
Good luck, Deb G

Deb133 - What IV antibiotic was your daughter on? Did she take orals in combination with the IV? If so, do you mind telling me what they were?
That is so wonderful to hear about your daughter! So good to hear positive feedback re: therapy. :-)
