Just wanted to ask any of you who have dealt with depression what if any treatment was helpful . I have benn treating lyme and babs with good results for 2.5 years now , but over the last 4 months I have been seriously depressed .

The combination of poor finances, lack of work, going off abx's for 3 months , and having my significant other leaving has sent me downhill.

I was wondering what if any antidepressants have worked for any of you who have been there.I was on zoloft 12 years ago for awhile, and I have an appt next week with my llmd and I will talk about it then , but I wanted to know what has worked for any of you.

I just can't seem to get out of this on my own !
Work has picked up and I feel much better physically , but this loss in my personal life is just tearing me up inside !

Pure Encapsulations brand St. John's Wort helped me. I took it at night for 3 months in the beginning of my illness.

I could not tolerate any AD's.

Sorry you are going through this. Time is still the

best healer. But B 12 and other suppliments may

help while you are going through this. Talk to your

LLMD as he should know what could help the most.

I am interested in finding out what other supplements might help with depression. I am on Zoloft (was on it many times and for a long time) and I am in the process of weaning off of it.

It definately helped my depression some at the time (post partum) but I don't like how dependent I become on it (if I miss a dose, it is pretty harsh - and if I miss 2, it's brutal).

I personally think that those of us with Lyme have a more difficult time with antidepressants. I feel side effects are worse, and they are so hard to come off of.

However, if the depression is severe, and if your LLMD agrees, then I am sure it would be beneficial.

I am sorry you have had such a tough time lately and I know things will look up for you soon!

many take antidepressants and they help

i can't-they make me crazy

i walk. i can barely walk...but when i am really depresses and that is worst sx i force my self to move. i can usually walk. if i couldn't i would do some kind of repetitive exercis i could do or even "rock" in a rocking chair.

movement does someting real in the brain to help depression go away

i remember at my worst thinking...all i have to do today is get up and walk...i did manage to get some kinds of clothes on-but oftern didn't eat, drinlk or take meds...just walked...then before long i was wanting to do the other things i need to to take care of myself

someone else can talk about the brain chemistry stuff that occurs

Antidpressants are a must for me. Have been on several different ones over the yrs. I was on Zoloft for quite awhile and it wasn't one of my favorites. All ppl differ, and what works for one does not always mean it will work for you.

You have to titrate slowly when you go off, I did it myself with several.

At this time I am on Remeron 30 mg at HS. It's also suppossed to help the sleeping issue and it's working well for me.

Exercising helps a lot for me. Especially outdoors on a beautiful day.

My daughter could not tolerate Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil or Cymbalta, but is able to take Celexa. She's improving, for sure. My mother-in-law and my good friend have also done very well on Celexa.

I'd say xango if your finances were doing better. I recall feeling I was more a part of the dead than living.

Many things changed...but xango was one of them.

Prozac works wonders for me. B-12 also helps.

Check out Burrascano's guidelines. He has a section where he talks about supplements and SAM-E is in there, but he says it has to be taken with some other supplement. I'm on all the neuro supplements, due to have holes in my brain, and I think they help a lot with mood and clarity.

I found good prices and $5 shipping at vitacost.com for supplements.

hang in there!
