Please help. I have chronic Lyme and last month I started to have heart palpitations at rest. This is a new symptom.

I went to the cardiologist my EKG and echo were norrmal, but the Holter Monitor showed extra beats. He thinks it is nothing. He said to exercise, take magnesium and cut out caffeine.

Now a few days later, the palpitations are very frequent and I have chest heaviness and pain.

Should I go to the ER , but I've been through this before when they think it is anxiety, not that bad etc...

Please advise. Thank you.

pini I don't know what to tell you except I had the

same thing when I first started treatment. It was

very scary and I thought I may need emergency

treatment. It usually occured at nite as laying

down for bed, but then increased to day too. My

sodium level was way low. I found a pinch of

salt helped me. It relieved the conduction

problem. You can try a pinch in the mouth and see if

it helps. If it does you know. It worked as fast

as sugar or insulin in a diabetic. Fast.

Pini, I have had thesee symptoms full time over the past 2 months, have been to Casualty [E and R] once and felt as bad several other times.

I haven't had the result of my heart halter yet, but ECGs were normal, but with the ectopic beats [sinus arrhythmis].

In my case, it looks as if my adrenals couldn't keep up with theery work they were doing to try to convert my throid meds so that they are used by the cells.

My cortisol was v. low indeed and I have started hydrocortisone [and can only take a fraction of th thyroid meds I need until the cortisol level comes up.

This may not be relevant in your case, but I would look into thyroid and adrenal symptoms and testing if appropriate.

For the adrenals, I decided to have the salva tests because they measure the hormones at 4 different points in the day.

You could look at www.stopthethyroidmadness.com for more info and details of where to obtain the saliva tests in USA.

You could try half teaspoonful of a good salt [not table salt] in warm water to see if that helps [if so,it could again point to low adrenals].

I have also made cayenne papper drinks [quarter to half teaspoon in hot water...I added garlic or Xylitol].

Lastly, I have read that loud humming helps [something to do with raising nitric oxide levels] and this does seem to have some effect, though is hard to do when breathing is bad.

I hope you get to the bottom of what is causing your symptoms soon as I know how unpleasant and how frightening they can be,

Carry

Thank you. I was talking to a friend today and she said I should look into my thyroid. I will try the salt. Thanks.
