It's usually at night when I'm nodding off or trying to watch T.V., but the best I can explain it is that it feels like these *******s are on my brain stem...it's a horrid feeling. Anyone else?

I just started Lyme treatment in April of this year. However, I have been VERY ill since 2002. I had that brain jolt back then and it was terrifying. You are the first that has described it that way....i am so sorry you are experiencing that!!!!!!! I was treated for a terrible parasite (strongyloides) that I had picked up in South America. I took ivermectin. I believe the jolting stopped after that. Have you been checked for parasites? It could've been Lyme as well...hard to put this all together. I did a ton of parasite cleanses in the 7 years before finding lyme. With the right treatment, have faith it will end... finding what it is or what drug will end it is the trick.

I have had the "Brain Jolt" many times in my life before, usually when trying to come off Paxil, or if I haven't taken it in a few days. And after speaking to my Psych, who also is credited in psychopharacology, it seem the issue is serotonin related. So have you been prescribed Trazadone? i know that is popular amoung lymies, or are there any other SSRI you have been taking? I find if I go off my paxil for more than 3 days, the fourth day is all zaps. once i take it, there gone in an hour. This is why paxil is so dangerous.

I've had it. I called it "brain shocks" and it was AWFUL! Mine was from being on Effexor. That stuff was wicked. Maybe Lyme had a play in it.. at the same time I was having awful awful wrist and shoulder pain and racing heart. This was 5 years ago, before finding out I had Lyme.
