My primary care doctor wants me to start the disability process. She has for over 2 years now, but I kept thinking or hoping this would all go away.
I have researched in the helpful links, but what I'm not sure of is: Does my doctor need to write a letter? I'm sure she will if I ask.
I'm having a hard time reading and comprehending all of that information, it is just too much. I think I need it more simple (like #1. DO THIS #2. DO THIS) I'm really sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone, it is all so thorough. It is just me, my brain doesn't focus like it used to. I have an appt. at the ss office in a few weeks.
Also, I never had a positive lyme test. She thought I should use chronic pain syndrome with fibromyalgia as secondary.
Lastly, I do have a lyme doctor. He has been treating me for lyme but I have only seen him once as we do alot by phone. Riding 3 1/2 hours is just too much to handle. My fear is: will he get in trouble? I considered not mentioning him, but I know it is in my medical records at my primary care that he has been treating me also.
Any advice??? Please, I am clueless as to what to do. All I know is I am in sooo much pain and I am sooooooo tired all the time. I have been dealing with this for 3 years. I have gone from "I don't think I can make it 1 more day" to "I don't think I can make it another 5 minutes"
I'm ready to give up. I have no fight left in me.

getting SSDI is difficult and can be discouraging at times so you must be super patient.
apply at your local Social Security office. please be advised you will most likely be denied at least twice over several months.
hire an SSDI attorney to appeal your case. attorney will take a reasonable percentage of reward if/when benefits are received.
meanwhile, i suggest filing for State Disability (SDI) simultaneously b/c it takes months to get a SSDI hearing (took me 18 months).
make sure you are laboratory Lyme positive (CDC preferred) to ensure respect, and/or can prove neurological symptoms.
a well organized paper trail of medical records supporting your condition is mandatory at judgement time (at the hearing but not necessarily at filing time).
i was awarded 2 yrs of benefits based on my history.
i filed Apr07, hearing Oct08, final decision Dec09, award amount Jan09, first payment Feb09, back pay Apr09.
i was unable to get SDI for Lyme due to 2 previous consecutive claims for injuries.
SDI refused to recognize Lyme claiming it was a continuation from a previous injury claim and that i never recovered.

-------------------- "The hell with Drs.. we have each other!" My story began here:
boy was the weather great here this july? unheard of .
1st, NO letter from your dr. is going to do anything!!
YOU NEED SUPPORTIVE MEDICAL EVIDENCE!! *********************************************************
also filing for PAIN will NOT help you at all; DDS doesn't believe in pain, fibro, fatigue, etc. they are also NOT ON LIST OF APPROVED "DISABILITIES".
also, in iowa it takes 2.5 yrs. to see admin law judge if NOT longer! took me 5 yrs. of hell to be approved on 2nd claim.
i had a lawyer for almost 4 years and he QUIT me; i represented myself at 2nd ALJ hearing.
i'm going to copy this part here; may have sent this before to you; i have no idea since i help SO MANY folks.
did you SUPPORTIVE DR. complete a RESIDUAL FUNCTION CAPACITY, RFC, form ?? ******************************************
all, please go to top of SUPPORT and click on MINOUCAT'S DISABILITY info.
print it all out; huge volume of good info there especially CONNIE MC'S Q/As to be completed by your SUPPORTIVE drs.
here's the key on winning SSDI, disability insurance benefits:
now your drs. need to complete each of the questions based upon on how your HEALTH TODAY; not last day you worked: ***************************************
RESIDUAL FUNCTION CAPACITY, RFC, form
how long you can do the below examples daily!' *******************************************************
0-2 hrs., 2-4, 4-6 , and 6-8 hours
sitting, standing lifting crawling bending climbing using your hands cognitive skills
it's these things your being approved for will win your case! NEVER THE ILLNESSES when it is NOT on the list of approved list of impairments!!
so for those denied or just submitted, go immediately to minoucat's info and print it off; read over and over to comprehend it all.
then get those needed documents to build your case of winning 1st time, 1st step. otherwise it takes 2.5 years to get your admin law judge hearing face-to-face or a LIVE CONFERENCE video one.
we're all speaking from personal experiences.
in my case, my hired lawyer of almost 4 entire years quit me when 1st was at appeals council where he did NOT SUBMIT A BRIEF; so after 2.5 yrs. of being there and NOT opened; AC did NOT have to look at my 3-4" file. they only had to look over my denial from aljudge's notes!!
i went thru both of my 2 claims and started noting things taking 8 wks. to do this. typed up my report and used their list of APPROVED IMPAIRMENTS showing their chapters that matched my medical conditions documented by drs.
had connie's special Q/A forms completed, and i feel the things I DID were what won it for me, and i had a video live w/judge. he said it would be several months before i heard from him and NOT TO CALL HIM.
he approved me in 2 wks!! went back 3 yrs. but NOT back to 1st claim!
do you have family/friends who could help you get all the needed info together so you can win 1st time, 1st step?? This would save you thousands of dollars.
effective 6-1-09, lawyers can get up to MAX of $6,000 ??? i think; that may be in minoucat's info now. connie mc just posted it was going up effective TODAY!
most lawyers do NOT get involved until you are ready for alj, admin law judge, hearing!
IF YOU NEED MORE HELP, send me a pm and show your home email in PM; i'll get back to you ok!
hugs/kisses july
YES NEVER GIVE UP; you can not afford to!
