I am going because I am depressed. Not like situational depression, you know, from my situation, like having Lyme, divorce, all of that stuff, but it's the first time I felt like there is a chemical imbalance in my brain. This doctor is Lyme Friendly and knows more about it than any other doctor except for Dr. C (and I'm doubting that at this point!) that I have ever been to.
I feel depressed, unmotivated, but yet, strung out at the same time. Since Klonopin helps soooo much with my pain, besides Cymbalta, is there anything else that would help me? More motivation? Less depression? Something to "chill out" my mind and thoughts....it's like someone is changing the channels in my head with bad thoughts over and over again. All day, all night.
Any suggestions as to what to maybe suggest (in a way that it seems like I'm not suggesting it - because I don't want to seem like a seeker)? Is there anything that helps any of you? I know a lot of you are geared towards natural things but I've tried lots of different things and it just didn't help. I'm all for medicine and please respect my preference.
Any ideas? Any ideas within the next 2 hours?
Thanks a million.
Nessa

I just want to wish you luck with your appt. I hope it's helpful and whatever course you are given provided some needed relief.
From reading your recent posts, I can tell stress levels really are elevating. I understand why, but it's hard to get better under enormous pressure.
I think every0ne at some point with this disease (or other scary ones) needs someone to talk to.

I am sending good thoughts your way.
I don't know of any specific questions to ask, but I always take a list of my feelings with me.
You are very fortunate that you are going to a Lyme-friendly therapist. I have a feeling that is going to be a huge help in your treatment.
I take Lexapro and Trazodone. This works well for me. A couple of weeks ago my therapist started me on Pristiq as well, but it made my brain feel dull and slow so I discontinued it.
There are so many different antidepressants available and they work differently for each of us.
Best wishes.

Hi nessa,
I forgot to mention in my previous reply that sometimes it takes a few different tries with various antidepressants to find the one(s) that will work best for you. Please do not get discouraged (easier said than done, I know).
Please let us know how your appointment went.

I wish you all the best with your appointment. I'm seeing my psychiatrist today as well, and have similar concerns. For me though, I'm up most of the night with the daily stressors playing over and over in my head. I need something to quiet the thoughts and help me to sleep. I've tried Trazodone, Ambien and Lunesta, to no avail. I'm wondering if Xanax would help?

If you have anxiety, something like Lexapro might be good.
Lamictal helped me not be so irritable and irrational. It is a "mood stabalizer." It is used in bipolar, but also in treatment-resistant depression. I know of at least a few people that really like Lamictal, but your psychiatrist would be best able to help you.
Just see what he/she says.
