Hello,

Our LLMD just put my younger son on Amoxcy.
The dose is 1000 mg a day (500 mg 2 x day).
He is 78 lbs and 10 yrs old.

I looked up the Dr B guidelines and also
dosage on Medplus. I was just curious
as when my older son was started on Amox.
he was started on 2000mg and then up to 3000 mg
with Probenicid too. He was 100 lbs at the time
and 2 years older then my younger son.

Any one who has kids on Amoxcy or have experience
with this abx?

Thanks in advance for any information.

I'm not sure of what the "usual" dosage is, however my little guy is just 3 1/2 years old and weighs around 34ish lbs.

They have him taking 600 mg a day, its 3 doses at 200 mg each time.

I have not been to a LLMD yet, our appointment isn't until September 3rd. He has been on the Amoxicillin for about5 days now, prior to that he was taking Augmentin for another infection from a splinter though.

Your LLMD will probably do a peak level test at some point, Stacy .... he did for me .... he worked me up to a large enough dose (the PA did).

Thanks SIX and AMY,

I just thought it was a bit low.
I am sure they may increase it as they
did with my oldest too.
