I just started a course of doxycycline yesterday and today I am suddenly feeling feverish (although I haven't been able to take my temperature), dizzy and extremely weak.

I haven't had a worsening of my joint pain or headaches yet.

Is this a herx reaction?

Is it possible to get one only a day after starting antibiotics?

And does anyone know how long it's supposed to last and if it's gonna get worse before it gets better.

Thanks

hi there [Smile]

you should have received my newbie letter and links; look towards the bottom for HERX REACTIONS, and read the comments.

that should help you out alot.

no one ever knows how long they last; they just do!

we just have to remember our herx's mean IT'S KILLING SPIROCHETE IN OUR BODIES and that means when we get rid of them ALL, then we will start feeling better.

best wishes and hang in there for better days, months, and years hugs/kisses

Betty,

Thank you for your wise words! I've been herxing since last weekend and man am I ready to be done! Esp when I'd been feeling so much better!

I will take the rest of this herx with grace and stop complaining about it...I am lucky that I am having a reaction because it means the little suckers are dying.

Sorry you are with me right now Swavle!

Ocean,

if it makes you feel any better you have good company...11 months into treatment with good progress but the past 5 weeks have been really really bad...just keep hoping tomorrow i get relief.

sorry to hijack swalve...yes you can herx after one day...and even though it is rough its the outcome you want....
