Does anyone know if an abdominal lymphangioma cyst and lyme could be related?
My daughter is 14 and had an abdominal lymphangioma removed a few months back. The doctor said it was pretty rare for someone her age to have one and that it was secondary to something else, but to what he could not say. Her IGeneX results have come back pointing to Lyme. Could there have been a connection here?

While the specific term "lymphangioma cyst" is not mentioned in this article, you will recognize by reading the article carefully that it might still be possible to ask that a sample of the removed tissue be sent to Igenex Lab for PCR testing, according to case reports described on pg. 79 of the following journal article:
Be sure to test the sample for more than just Borrelia though -- such as Bartonella and Babesia and any other tick-borne pathogens which are commonly found in your geographical area. Oh, I see you're from MA, so that means that you should probably check off everything on the list.
PCR (DNA) testing works well on tissue samples although it is not very useful for blood testing. That's because Bb resides in the tissues, but is seldom found in the blood stream.
Pay close attention to this paragraph on pg. 79.
"DNA tests are especially handy because they can be utilized by way of biopsies harvested from inside the gut during otherwise routine colonoscopies and endoscopies in cases where the diagnosis is uncertain. PCR's are highly specific although they are less than ideally sensitive so that a positive test is a reliable indicator of Bb infection while a negative test simply does not exclude Lyme and does not indicate a lack of infection (30)."
Be sure to use a lab that specializes in Lyme diagnostics -- namely, Igenex Lab. (See ref. #34 in the reference list at the end of the medical journal article - link above.)
