Hi All,
I don't post often but I read all the time.

I am in a bad place. I can't remember being this

depressed before. I did the zithro/mepron until I got so sick I couldn't walk. I stopped and

have gone into a funk that is the worst I have ever been in. It's 3 weeks now.

I have no hope. I have no vision of a future.
My son who is 28 yrs. old came to visit for a

few days and behaved like a spoiled brat who is angry that his mommy is sick. I can't fix him.

I can't keep up with bills and work. I am afraid I am losing my house. My job is the only thing

keeping me going and even that is making me crazy because I spend all my "good" time helping

others live a great life and then I end up having no life at all on my time off.

I feel so awful.

Thanks for reading any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Blessings,
Just Jan

I'm sorry you're so depressed Jan. Please talk to your LLMD about it. This is a significant symptom and sometimes meds are needed to help with it.

How long were you on mepron/zith? Did you try mepron/biaxin? I couldn't tolerate the zith.

Also, during my first herx about three weeks in on mepron/biaxin, I could not walk, but the herx passed and I saw improvement. Every 21 days I got worse for about a week, but over time improved.

Did you go off the meds with your LLMD's knowledge? It's important to talk to the doc about any changes.

Thanks so much for all your replies. Yes, my LLMD knows what I am doing and wants me to go

back on the combo with much lower dosage and slowly build up to max. dosage.

Biaxin kicked my you know what.
I still don't have the stamina to work up to the

herx, plus I was waiting until my son left so we could have a nice visit...silly me!

Blessings,
Just Jan

Jan,

I am sorry you are in such a tough place right now.

Just know that there are lots of folks here at lymenet that understand.

I have friends and family too that just don't 'get it' too and know how you feel.

It is so frustrating at times. They expect us to be supermom when we can't be supermom anymore.

I've been on meds that made me feel the same way, but it got better, it just seems like forever, but it does get better.

You are in our thoughts and prayers. Don't forget that. Ok?

God bless.

Jan,

It's awful feeling that depressed. I'm so sorry.

However, try to keep in mind that the disease and treatment is probably causing the depression.

I also spin down into a very dark, hopeless depression every so often. I thought it was justified because there was a lot to be depressed about (everyone with depression thinks that).

However, I realized in my case, it was concurrent with my physical state. When I was weak, I also got hit with depression.

In a day or so, I'd feel better, get strength back, and the depression would suddenly lift. (Typical depression shouldn't wax and wane like that).

These episodes have been fewer as I've gotten better.

Interestingly, I am on zith and mepron too. I don't know if this is a herx or just a side effect of the infections

So, try to grab hope that the depression is not YOUR fault.

Definitely talk to your LLMD about it as Sixgoofykids suggests. Take anti-depressants if prescribed. Think of them as "pain-killers" killing the pain of depression. You're having a tough time already, you don't need depression making everything else worse.

If you're on ADs then maybe you'll need to change something.

Hang in there.

Good luck,

James

im so sorry you are feeling bad...

there is a newer saliva test that tests neurotransmitters that is covered by some insurance

it will test adrenals, seritonins that lead to depression and treat it

here is the link-

http://www.integrativepsychiatry.net/neurotransmitter_tests.html

otherwise google neurotransmitter test

but my nutritionist says they are getting really good results for depression, sleep , and weight
I think its then treated with amino acids

I waited like 6 months after telling me this
and Im gonna do the test now

will let you know-

dont forget b vitamins and magnesium
b12 shot or myers cocktail might help

hang in there! i know it is awful to feel this way. Some days I dont sleep AT ALL.

Jan,
I am so sorry for all that you are going through. I could not do Mepron at all. I was only on it for 10 days and became very depressed, but was better after stopping.

Maybe your LLMD can substitute another like Malarone. I pray you feel better.

My PCP actually ordered this test, BC/BS paid for it. It has lots of stuff in it but basically all I got was suggestion to use travacor/adrecor (very expensive) and she prescribed me cortef cause my cortisol was around 1.

Sorry you are going through this. Read the Mepron Blues thread. I know you said you went off of it 3 weeks ago, but it could have started the depression and it is still there. I hope you feel better,

Gael

feeling like that. I am sorry you are having to go

HI,
Thanks for all the suggestions. I am still so despondent. I just have to put one foot in front

of the other. I hate feeling this awful.
Yes, I am on thyroid meds.

Yes, I will ask my LLMD about neuro testing.
Yes, I do B-12 shots and take mag.

I am also writing a letter to all my family and friends asking for help of any kind. We'll see

what happens because we all know...BUT YOU LOOK SO GOOD????????
It makes me nuts.

My neighbor, who is very sweet, and I were in

the garden this morning and he doesn't understand that I can't stand up for any period

of time. He isn't mean about it but I can tell he thinks I am not "forcing" myself through the

pain.
Yuck!
Thanks all.

Blessings,
Just Jan

Jan,

I'm so sorry to hear that you're still feeling down. Depression is a serious condition and you may need professional help to get out of this funk. I remember the first time I went to my doctor feeling extremely blue. I had felt this way off and on for years, but at this point I had a small child I needed to care for and couldn't spend a week on the couch.

She prescribed Lexapro for me. It took a few weeks to feel any better, but boy did it help.

I've been on most anti depressants out there. The one that works best for me now is Cymbalta because it also helps with the pain.

There's nothing wrong with seeking professional help. It's probably saved my life, and now I don't get the blues anymore.

Take very good care of yourself, and let us know how you're doing!

Holly

Hmmm...Mepron and Zith can both cause depression, let alone together. The good news is that these symptoms can be controlled, please get some help, there's no need to suffer like that.

Hi All,
I am on Celexa already. I was on Effexor but had

bad reactions so I had to stop. I am getting professional help. I can't get out of this

hole...it is so deep and dark and dank and lonely. Having my 28 year old son come and

behave like a spoiled teenager didn't help. As I said I wrote a mass letter to all my family

and friends to see if anyone can help. I hope I haven't set myself up for a big splat!
Blessings,
Just Jan

Coltman--

you might need to call that link and see what amino acids you need to solve the symptoms

a regular doctor prescribing cortef may take care of initial symptoms but the other feeds your body to produce the cortisol
i think there is a number on their site and maybe have a consult with them to see if anything else

as i understand that test is suppose to give alot of info, but the doctor may just not be familiar with it

also supplement Intramax is a good boost
might help mood since it has lots of nutrients
and gives energy
but do not take meds until 2 hours after
this supplement will last you a while cause you will only take like a teaspoon to start

others are standard process dessicated adrenal
drenamin for adrenals

also premier research adrenal complex
and 2 months later take premier research adaptagen
also premier research gold 360
try to to go to their site and see what tests for your system
they usually will test a TON of stuff but just take a few

i dont know which will help you
but i know that feeling of despair
please hang in there!!
