Dear older Lymies, Those with Lyme 10 or more years. There was an article going around many years ago that I need to find and quote from for my fight to keep my health insurance.

It was about one page long and talked about how Lyme was more debilitating than patients with heart failure, I believe it said.It may have even been an article from the "other camp", if I remember right? maybe not.

Anyway, am searching for medical articles that state how Lyme disease is more disabling than x,y,or z. Any help out there would be appreciated. Have to get my paperwork in the mail tomorrow. Thanks, gang!
Robin

i'm interested in this article, too, when trying to explain to people why we're so debilitated, it was quite useful.

I recall it, but don't know where to locate it. I do recall Steere or Wormser saying it was BS and there were other factors involved/bad conclusions.

To them, it causes mild flu-like symptoms and we're all highly exaggerating.

robin, is this it http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m3230/is_8_33/ai_78057528/

The last paragraph of the first page states:

""Although we still have much to learn," said Klempner, "we know much more about chronic Lyme disease now than we did when these studies began." Besides the information obtained about the efficacy of intensive antibiotic treatment, the investigators found that the impact of Lyme disease on physical health was at least equal to the disability of patients with congestive heart failure and osteoarthritis..."

if you're giving people the Klempner study to back up as part of a point about chronic Lyme, you might want to look at or use this link- a debunking of Klempner's conclusions (this all has nothing to do with his comments about us being so badly impaired, just about this conclusion that his study "proves" that long-term antibiotics don't work:
