Hi All,
I have been told by DR. C that I should not drink soda or have sugar for a week before starting the meds. He says it's ok to have aspartame. I wonder if you are allowed to have diet coke?

I'm going crazy with out no sugar. I like my sweets.

Let me know any advice that you might have for me.

Thanks for your help in advance,

Mike

Everyone here will say no atificial sweeteners. This doc doesn't follow this logic 100%. He says no 'if sensitive.' 99.99% of hardcore Lymies will tell you Stevia or Agave Nectar only. [Smile]

Bummer, I'm trying to be really good and do this right. I have been having some bloating in the abdomen and i think it's due to yeast. Are all carbs not allowed? If so, what can i eat?

Could be abdominal lymph overload. some gentle massage helps me. I think protein is all that is left for us but bowels need lots of probiotics to process. I take creon one a day.

Any drastic diet change could cause abdominal bloating. That is most likely the cause for you as you have not even started on antibiotics yet. Your body will need a little time to adjust to your new eating habits.

According to my LLMD, we should can eat whole grains, fruits, vegs, and proteins (including nuts). Milk, butter, and plain yogurt are also OK. He recommends avoiding added sugars, refined/white flour, vinegars, fermented and moldy foods.

For example, you could have grilled salmon, a small sweet potato (with butter and cinnamon possibly), and broccoli for dinner. Sounds good right?

By combining carbs with proteins you give your body the fuel it needs without spiking the blood sugar.

Carbs are NOT essential nutrients. We can live on fats and proteins, which are the only two essential nutrients.

The combining of proteins and carbs is not advised as the first one eaten will begin the digestion of that specific one and the other will not digest well.

What it will essentially do is sit and rot in your gut. The anti-fat phobia embraced by much of the medical field has NO scientific backing.

Google Gary Taubes article "What If It's Been a Big Fat Lie" (or something close to that) or his book "Good Calories Bad Calories".

Most traditional docs just puppet what they are told and currently it is protein and carbs together. Fat, protein and some veggies are very good together. Fat physicaly takes longer to digest so that is why it decreases sugar spikes better.

Another good reference is "The Pro-Vita Plan for Optimal Health" by Jack Tips ND. His site is www.drjacktips.com - and perhaps have the local library get it before you may buy it. Check it out, try it. My spikes eating the way Jack recommends brought my spikes down to 3 yes three points after 2 hours.
