Hello, I've read time and time again that removing sugars/carbohydrates and yeast from your diet is essential for lyme patients, and I've finally committed to doing so. I'm just wondering, what is it that people eat??
I've been avoiding obviously sugary food like the plague (soda, ice cream, candy, etc), but I mean, are onions okay? I eat tons of onions and it would break my heart to have to cut them from my diet. I know they contain sugar (calorie counter website, http://www.thecaloriecounter.com/Foods/1100/11282/6/Food.aspx), so are they out of the question?
Are there any websites that have good recipes for Lyme people?
Thanks a lot!

My own personal experience is that I do fine if I avoid processed foods and any sugars.
I can eat potatoes, veggies, fruits, etc with no problems.
There is a difference between sugar that is processed...like sugar cane or high fructose corn syrup, and the natural sugar that is formed when foods like veggies are broken down.
Some people have more yeast problems than others.
I have been lucky. As long as I avoid processed foods and sugars and take my good probiotics, I have not had a problem.
Stick to real foods that grow naturally.
