I do not take any large doses of supplements. I take a few supps, but just the regular daily doses. However I have read where a few LLMDs promote taking very large doses of vitamin C. One that claims large doses of C played a huge part in his recovery.
Anyway, my LLMD told me to take 500mg of C a day, which I did until recently. Then I decided I had to try new things since my improvement is soooo slow; been in treatment 16 months now. So I am up to 2500mg so far, but I know that some people take 10,000mg a day or more.
However, I have read where some believe that vit C can cause lyme to go into cyst form. It seems that if that were so, then the antibiotics we are on would do the same. I am only on doxy at this time. Looking for opinions on taking larger doses of vitamin C.

C boosts your own immune system so it is good.
Abx does cause Lyme to go into cyst form . You can take things to prevent cyst form .
so i see the theory of your immune system being stronger cuz of the c causing the lyme to be uncomfortable enough to go into cyst form.
You also need to break away the biofim that covers the spirichete forms that make it reststent to abx also.
Doxy is a abx that goes through the blood.
You should talk to the doc about getting onto an abx that is intracellular like clarithromycin in conjunction with the doxy.
there are many choices for all of these elements u need to address w this disease.
one choice to break up the biofilms is serrapeptase
then there is a salt/c protocol which is said to keep them from going into cyst form.
I believe it is because they need water to go into cyst form and the salt robbs them of that.
I have had my neuro prescribe me phenegrin it is great for nausia . any doc will gv it to you.
i believe we all deserve some percocet hahaa. for the pain.
it is terrible what has happened in this country w the stigma of pain medication as an abbuse potential,
they are missing the people who actually need it to be able to stand in front of someone and be normal.
We all have to see what works for us.
Also consider going on vit d.
Lyme causes vit d definciency!!!!!!
I am 25 and have osteoperosis because of 9 years of undiagnosed Lyme causing vit D deficiency.
Im sure u know alot of this stuff though.

Veromia, I had a horrible experience with D so I am very cautious not to take too much of it.
D in high doses acts as a steroid. I took presciption D and my D went from 19 to toxic levels. I felt great, until it came back down to normal. Then I was sicker than ever.
I took Flagyl in the beginning of my treatment for the cyst form of lyme. I also took plaquenil a few months ago, but had to stop it due to horrid side effects.
Does anyone know if there is proof that C can cause lyme to go into cyst form?
How often should we take something for the cystic form? Does it take a long time for the cyst to form?

I don't know about C and cyst form but taking C can cause increased absorption of iron so be careful. Too much can damage organs and tissues. I read on the Marshall Protocol for Lyme not to take Vit. D. I have been taking it and am about fed up with finding all these little gems of info.

Zil, concerning the vit D. I am taking very small doses. I figure that puts me somewhere in the middle which I consider the safe zone. Who knows what is what with all the conflicting information.
