I was just diagnosed with Retinal Vein Occlusion

and I was wondering if anyone had experience

with this. It is when the vein in the retina

fills with blood and clots. Therefore, it is

blocked.

I have heard and read that Lyme folks have

thicker blood(-er,the intellegent way to say

this is hyper-coaguable blood.) I guess thick

blood would be more prone to doing this. I just

had it diagnosed, so I don't know my options

for treatment if there are any.Any information

is appreciated. Thanks [Frown]

PB4, what are your symptoms, I'm unfamiliar with this. That said, my sister has had a dx of damage of the retina. She has a ton fewer sx than me, but her few are significant.

Just curious

<<<<< PB4 >>>>>,

My Hubby, TxC', who has not yet been diagnosed w/Lyme and Co.'[ tho' we are very suspcious], had a mid vein occlusion in the back of his rt. eye in '07 [ also called a stroke of the eye].

Bartonella, a co-infection, can also cause eye issues...tho I am not sure about occlusions.

If memory serves, somewhere on one of the symptoms lists, for Lyme,I think?,Arterial occlusions of the eye are mentioned. So we kinda figure that this can be a result of Lyme or a co-infection... tho' we are not positive!!!

Hopefully more folk who are up on eye symptoms will be along in a bit w/ better info'.

Please take care of yourself and keep w/in a Drs. care!!!

Jus' the Silverwolfi

Hello Everyone-
Sorry, I was away from the computer for a while.

C3MOM, the symptoms for me have been waking up

one morning thinking there was something on my

eye. It was like there was a blob of paint. I

could see all the way around it, but not through

it.

I went to a retina specialist last week and

I was able to see the pictures they took of the

inside of my eye. It looked like something had

exploded in there. The diagnostic things they

can do are incredible! He said there was a 30%

chance it would resolve on its own.Silverwolf-

what happened with your husband.Did it get

better? Did they do something?

Thanks, PB

Hi there <<<<< PB4 >>>>>,

Unfortunately, after treatment and starting to get better, hubby had a pressure problem manifesting as a severe migraine...that was misdiagnosed as -trigeminal neuralgia-,by a local ER Dr in the area where we were living.

The Dr. misdiagnosed my hubby, even after he brought a medical sheet explaining the various medical issues he has,and the most recent readings on his eye,the DX and so on.

He is now blind in that eye...but...that was from a misdiagnosis. Before the misdiagnosis,he had regained some sight and could see the numbers on a larger clock.

If you get any harsh unusual headaches during or after treatments...have the eye pressure checked as soon as possible.Proper medicine/treatment to lower the pressure would have saved TxC'/hubby's eyesight in the rt.eye.

Eye sight is very precious...so listen to your Drs. and follow their directions as best as is possible!!!

Just Silverwolfi here!

Thanks Silverwolf! You are so right about how

precious our eyesight is. I cannot believe how

this has impacted not only me, but my whole

family. I have not been able to work and need to

be driven places. The Lyme kept me from work long

enough, and now this.I am blessed that my

employer is holding my job for me and has

promised to do so as long as needed.I'm so used

to being

independent.I can truly say that my Lyme has

improved, now I just want my sight back.I often

pray with gratitude for still having my sight in

the other eye.I guess things could be a whole

lot worse.

Take care! [hi]
