I went to a regular optometrist yesterday as a first and dumb step about my left eye. I feel pressure (apparently pressure test was fine) behind my eye, feel like what ever makes my eye turn (muscles, nerves?) are "stiff", and I have noticed that my eye lid has dropped a little since this started in April/May.
She couldn't see anything on her end but said to see a neuro-eye doctor (note that I can't spell the word, or bother to look it up).
I know that I remember that some of you had diagnosed eye conditions and I was wondering how you went about getting those diagnosed. What tests did they run? What type of doctor did you go to first about it? Where did they send you?
I'm scared because I'm thinking brain tumor (again)....this is the most alarming symptom that I've had. The twitching and full body jerks scared me so bad last year I had an MRI and it checked out....but it was in June of last year.
I guess it's time for another MRI? I don't really have head aches or anything else, just left eye pain. I just NEVER thought that Lyme would do this to me. I always read eye symptoms on the list and I just didn't think it would happen to me. It's sad that when I first got Lyme and read some of those symptoms I just didn't see how so many could be tied to Lyme and felt glad and almost mind boggled how so many ppl could have ms type weakness or eye problems, etc. But it's all happening to me now.....since Feb of this year, so much new stuff has happened, I'm really alarmed.
I feel like I'm being eaten alive, watching one more body part effected each month...while the previous ones get worse.
The optometrist gave me her DUMB pep talk about Lyme that's worth ranting about, but I still stop here. God, people that don't know about Lyme but think they do really **** me off. And then when I say I don't have money for treatment, she just tells me to "fly" to N.Y. because "all of the experts are there" and just sell everything to get the plane ticket and when I get there, just "beg" them for treatment.
She seriously thinks I can beg my way to getting well. "Just find a doctor with a heart!" Well, lady, someone still has to buy my medicines, foot the bill for my hotel stay, food, I mean, gosh, she made it sound so simple. Grrrr. (Ok, I guess I did need to rant!)

See if your LLMD has the name of a neuro eye doctor for you - one who is LL.
Or - See the neuro eye doctor as your eye doctor suggests. Not everything is lyme but don't go in with any preconceived ideas or fears. Just see what the guy says.
I would not jump to get an MRI based upon your eye symptom. Talk to your LLMD first. Be sure to mention the eye lid drop - that is important but the LLMD should first evaluate that.

What is your level of magnesium? That should help if this is a tight muscle thing. Fish oil, too.
The DVD/book: Yoga for Your Eyes may be very helpful to loosen up tight eye muscles. Your library may have a copy.
It is a wonderful program. I can't say enough good about, regardless of what else is going on with eyes, exercises and rest periods as outlined here are essential.

Unfortunately, no llmd. I should put that in my siggy line.

The drooping of the eyelid can be a symptom of Bells Palsy.
Type it into search bar here for some good info. Sorry, you are having such a tough time,

- As Gael mentions, the eye lid drooping can be Bell's Palsy and Bell's Palsy if often a sign of lyme. A drooping eye lid can also indicate myasthenia gravis if there is other muscle weakness (again, that can be lyme in disguise - or not). Still, a LLMD would be the best to evaluate.
Can you contact the doctor who first treated you with you were diagnosed, then? At least ask if they could suggest an neuro eye doctor? You really need someone who is LL.
In the meantime, eye exercises and rest and magnesium may help.
How are you currently treating the lyme infection? -

If you had a physician confirmed bulls-eye or positive Lyme test & now have Bell's Palsey, even an IDSA ID Dr. should stick you on IV.

That sounds more like Bells Palsy to me. Maybe mild Bells. My hubby had that as well.

I think the droopy eye is just one of many neuro symptoms that can result from Lyme. It's been a big problem for me. Sometimes it goes away, but I can tell it's a sign that I'm herxing, as it starts up shortly after I take medications.

I also have pain on my left side which is becoming unbearable. It starts along my jaw line and moves up through my temple. It's burning and/or electric in nature. I am wondering if these are connected. ----
The llmd thing is not possible. I can't even pay my 30 dollar copays for regular doctors right now. I have been to an llmd last year, was on i.v. Rocephin for 30 days. Divorce hit and couldn't afford a thing after that.
Oh and I wanted to say that I have tested positive twice, once through Labcorp, once through Igenex.

You can try sublingual (dissolve under the tongue) B12. Get it at health food store. Be sure you don't swallow it. Dissolve it under the tongue.
It could help. Sounds like all of this is nerve on left side of face being attacked.
Sublingual B12 helps the nerves.

Get this checked out with a specialist.
A friend just was diagnosed with a tumor/growth attached to the nerve behind her one eye, causing her droopy eye lid. Thought it was Bells Pausy related to lyme...but not!
It is inoperable...so please check it out soon. She waited too long and it grew too big to do anything about it without severe damage to eye and brain. She cannot have surgery.
It may be nothing like this, but important to check out!
