I'm going it alone after 5 years of treatment. I'm ordering some meds & supplements on line. Does anyone know of a place on line where I can order injectable magnesium & lidocaine.

Mag shots have been one of the most helpful supplements I have tried and I've tried too many to count.

PM me if needed and thank you!

http://goldpharma.com/search/magnesium%20sulfate/lang/ENGLISH/

Curious what are your symptoms it helps with? Are/were your magnesium labs abnormal?

Hey good find. IM mag shots are a must. They help relax your muscles, way better than any med, and can't compare with oral mag, helps with twitching, too.

One should still take oral mag, as well. It's helps with anxiety by producing relaxation and all the benefits that come from magnesium supplementation.

Lymies are deficit in most cases, as Bb uses it too.

Adding B12 and B complex to the shot is even better.

P.S. looking at the site, not sure I see injectable magnesium but may be a careful search will reveal it.

I've been self-injecting mag (sulfate?)mixed with a small amount of lidocain a few times a week for years. I do not remember what the test was and I don't really care because I just know my body loves it!

It absolutely calms down my nervous system, helps decrease muscle spasm pain, helps decrease tremors and helps me think better. It's very helpful and I plan on continuing it, but need to find it on my own.

Magnesium rocks and I hope I can find it on-line.

Thanks for the lead!

If you have trouble finding lidocain you can use procaine HCL. Works just as well and has anti aging properties, as well.

Why do you need lidocaine? I did mag shots for years and never needed it. Sure it burns a little, not a big deal though.

If you put some B-12 in with the magnesium, the shot will not burn nearly as much. It's so much better.

As for lidocaine, some of that can have epinephrine in it, a no-no for anyone with lyme. Be sure to know exactly what is in the vial. But, again, with B-12 you will not need the lidocaine.

But, backing up, your PCP should be able to order the mag. sulfate for you from your local pharmacy. It's listed in Burrascano's guidelines. Even my PCP does not really believe in lyme but would order the magnesium for me.

If you go to PubMed there are hundreds of abstracts on its benefits.

Oh I like the b12 idea!

I use the lidocain cuz the mag shots hurt like heck and I'm already dealing with an incredible amount of pain and don't like adding to it.

Thanks!

Really, they won't hurt with the B-12 added. I came back to list the amount: I did about 1 cc of each in the syringe. If you get a pool of liquid at the injection site, you can back it out a touch after you inject some, still staying in muscle - or just use a little less.

Also, using a different need to draw out the medicine and then putting on clean, finer needle for injection. Some doctors say this can contaminate the syringe but my legs were too tender to be putting in needles that had been used by going through the rubber stopper of the vial.

If you do the needle switch, it should be swift and be sure, of course, not to go sneezing during the change over.

A special kind of B-12 is listed here:

Oh, and someone recently mentioned a magnesium oil that is nicely absorbed through the skin. I know shots can be a great help but, after many months - now, even years later - I have not on square inch of space on my front outer thigh that could tolerate a needle. It is best not to have to do shots if you don't have to.

Also, the endocrine system takes a huge hit from painful shots. No matter how you do it, with B-12 or lidocaine, a shot to the leg deep into the muscle will set off alarms to your adrenal stress chemicals. And that cascade is not good for lyme patients.

You might search Google for magnesium oil. Also consider Epson Salt warm (not hot) baths. Much can be absorbed through the skin.

You could also alternate methods.

I was never instructed to use the same needle you draw from to use to inject with. The one you use to draw with is usually too thick and painful to use to inject and yes it makes the needle point dull.

I use a 22G1 to draw from and a 27G 1 1/4 to inject. I just screw it off and put the injecting one on the syringe. It's nice and slim and goes in very easily and there is no problem with contamination as both needles screw off.

Everyone's situation is different. I use 1/2cc of procaine (specially compounded without preservatives--and it has anti aging properties), 1/2cc of B complex, 1 1/2cc of B12 and 2cc of magnesium sulfate. If you get it in the muscle, you shouldn't have any problems with pooling, only if you miss the muscle, then it goes under the skin and will absorb subcutaneously.

Also, the B12 you mentioned that Dr. B recommends is great, but very expensive.

Editing to add that I have used magnesium oil but didn't find it nearly as effective as the shots.
