I've been in treatment for a little less than a year now. was on mepron/zith/omnicel/artimin. for several months for lyme and babs.

then was put on rifampin for bart for a little less than 3 months.

one month off all abx.

2 weeks on zith/mepron while waiting on insurance about iv.

had iv put in one week ago. am doing 5 days on, 2 days off once a day of rocephin (2 gr).

the first five days i felt the same. today is my first day of the second week. i did the dose about two hours ago and am feeling slightly nauceus and like i'm tipping the the left.

i think this is dizziness. it's hard to explain. while i sit and type i feel like i am being pulled to the left. when i stand i feel like i need to hold on to something or i will tip over.

am i just dizzy. anyone notice this when on iv rocephin? in nearly one year the only improvement i see is no more night sweats. other than that i feel worse than before starting all this.

i've been sick for a very long time though. i really fear i will not get better.

thanks for any input!

Laura,
If you've been sick for a long time, it probably will also take a long time to get better.

The symptom you are descirbing could very well be the start of a herx. I know I had a very similar sensation when I started Rocephin, but it was more severe--I felt like I was on a ship on high seas, and was tipping every which way. I walked like a drunken sailor for a while!

You say you fear you will not get better. I can understand your frustration. Please hang in there, sometimes you have to feel worse before you feel better, but you are not a lost cause! Tell yourself you are WORTH the trouble of fighting this disease and getting past it. It can be done.

Think baby steps.

A few years ago, it was a good day if I could make it out of bed long enough to shower. Now I'm a full-time nursing student. A lot happened in between.

Baby steps.

I have been on IV Rocephin for 3 weeks today. For the first week, I would get nausea especially if I was hungry. This subsided though. I never had the dizziness.

Good luck, I have been sick for a very long time too, and sometimes want to give up. I'm going to still hang in there and keep the hope.

thanks for the input. it seems to be a bit more under control now, so i am not sure if it was a herx. we'll see what happens as the days go by.

I felt terrible for the first four weeks of Rocephin ( MWF - 2 gms).
I began to feel better in the 5th week.

Hang in there.
