Is this a helpful combination to take together because we need a fatty meal with mepron, or do these two weaken each others effectivenss.

Any thoughts-

thanks

That's a good idea, I used to take mine with the fish oils all the time! I would still eat something along with it though, for absorption. [Smile]

Thanks Wild.

We will attempt to take the fish oil with the Mepron. The Mepron tasted like a delicacy after I purchased the fish oil.

Yeah, that's my recommendation to those whose kids hate Mepron...go by some fish oil and they'll really taste what yuck is. [confused] [shake] [dizzy]

I will attempt to partition it in half like the Mepron is taken, but may end up giving him the whole oil amount with one of the daily mepron doses so as to suffer one time a day.

ugh

I agree with Condor on the point that you definitely need more fat than what fish oil caps would provide. I could be wrong here, but I *think* my LLMD recommended 18grams of fat with each serving of mepron. It might have been 24. Either way, much higher than the fish oils.

2roads,

I take my mepron with either coconut oil (tastes good) and 2 tablespoons meet the fat requirements.

Or I eat 17 walnut halves in my moning berries and yogurt. the walnuts also meet the fat requirements.

Or, you can do bacon, ice cream, butters, eggs, but I don't know the fat grams of these. You can google for fat grams and get a list of foods.

Wow, you definitely eat fit. Today I had donuts for breakfast [shake] . [Wink]

That is interesting. Coconut oil. Is it really tasty? ...7 year old tasty?

I have him take the Mepron with 2 % milk and a breakfast bar or cereal in the am. I think I need more fat added in the am....will try the fish oil and your suggestions.

Evening is usually easier to add the fat. esp'y after a later than usual dinner.

Carlons has a quality high potency liquid fish oil that comes in lemon or orange flavor.

I take 2 teaspoons which is 8 grams of fat. If you took a tablespoon, it would be 16 grams of fat.

It contains the Omega 3 DHA and EPA which also have many other benefits such as eye health, heart health, and reducing/healing inflammation, depression, fatigue, etc:

http://www.carlsonlabs.com/p-70-very-finest-fish-oil-lemon-flavor.aspx

Click on the Supplement Facts link and it will give the contents of the bottle.

I purchase it from Whole Foods but it is also available over the internet.

HI I know we shouldn't take antibiotics with vitamins and minerals but what about mepron? Can we take our daily vitamins along with mepron?

Bumping this back to the top. Anyone know if vitamins/minerals can be taken around the same time as Mepron?

Personally I don't take any supplements with my prescription meds unless instructed to do so by my LLMD. Too many unknowns and I don't want to take a chance that it will render them less effective.

Is fish oil something that would hamper with the antibiotics, because we take the Mepron with antibiotics?

...Another question .......

That's the thing 2roads, there is no way to know. It's probably OK but there is no info anywhere about this that I know of.

You might try to take mepron with the fish oil and then without just to see if there is a difference. The problem is that most of us have ups and downs so it would be hard to know. If you tried it 3X's and noted a difference each time, then you could probably assume it's not a coincidence.

Fish oil in general brings down inflammation which should help meds work better but who knows how mepron reacts when being taken with fish oil.

I used COCONUT CREAM from Tropical Traditions.

Tastes like the inside of a Mounds Bar (but not so sugary), and has LOTS of coconut oil.

Check out their website--there are sales often on coconut cream concentrate. I get 4 quarts whenever they have it on sale, two for the price of one.

YUM!

(I don't have any financial interest in this product)

Best,

Cass A

I used either peanut butter or egg salad or tuna salad with real mayonase hellmans.
Oh also lots of real butter on hunters grain bread when making the sandwiches.

Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions.

I will look up the website. The coconut sounds like our friend.

I have done peanut butter. Isn't it funny but my son could take or leave PB and whipped cream...... [dizzy] Not me.

Butter, ice cream ...this will work.

I love Hellmans Mayo, he still has to adapt. As his taste buds mature, there will be more choices, but then hopefully we will be done with this and watching his cholesterol.
