Just curious if anyone has read the book by Stephen Harrod Buhner called, " Healing Lyme;Natural Remedies and Prevention of Lyme and It's Co-Infections?
I recently added this protocol to my abx tx and it has really increased my herx - I think that is what it is doing...or else it is just making me feel plain old lousy with no redeeming value..Too soon to tell.
Anyway would love to hear if anyone has read the book and/or done this treatment..TG

Yes, it has been discussed here many times. To search for past discussions, go to the area under "Post New Topic" and click the search button. A good term to search for would be "Buhner", without the quotes.
I just checked, there are 500+ posts. You could also limit the results to only those that contain buhner in the subject line. That might give you more what you are looking for.
I've read the book. It is excellent even for those not on the protocol because it goes into a lot of detail about lyme disease in general. I'm not on the protocol except for the collagen building that he mentions.
Hopefully others will come by who are currently on the protocol.

Excellent book on many levels.
You are starting just very low dose, right? One thing at a time? That is best - instructions are in the book for starting doses.
Also know that andrographis will cause a herx and more tiredness the first week or for a few weeks. That will get better. However, it is a sedating herb by nature. With the overall combination formula, that can be balanced out.
Be sure to drink lots of water (and be near a bathroom to get rid of that as andrographis can increase that need in a good way).
Sorry, I do not have the endurance for a discussion. The book takes several times to read over all its great chapters.

Thanks Keebler..Well...No... I did not start one thing at a time. Began the standard protocol + the one for Neuro-Occular.
I did begin a the low starting dose as recommended but began everything all at once.
I wonder if that is why I am feeling so terribly sick and the worst herx ever. I don't recall him suggesting to start one thing at a time, but I will go back and re-read the book.
I will slow it down a bit so I do not get discouraged and quit. Thanks for the feedback and website. TG

I read his book, which appears very well researched, and used alot of his herbal protocol with antibiotics.
I think taking his recommended herbs with abx helped me during the first year of treatment. I do not like cats claw, but included andrographis, resveratrol, and stephania.

Stephen B answers questions on the PlanetThrive site. There are also other herb suggestions there from him, like cryptolepsis for babesia.
The book itself doesn't suggest starting each herb individually, as I recall, but it was subsequently recommended because that way it is easier to identify if you have a problem with any of the herbs.

This book was AMAZING for me. I have been on the core protocol since last August. I have only had the Lyme flare up 3 times and it wasn't bad at all when it did, compared to the times in the past. I had been on antibiotics for a year and I hated every minute of them. I'm now just taking Andrographis, Cat's Claw, and Resveratrol 3x a day. If I miss a few days (which happened this summer), I feel joint pain within days.
I would recommend this book to any Lyme patient. It's worth a try even if it doesn't work for you because it's such a healthier alternative to antibiotics, or an addition to the antibiotics if you really need them as well.

I read Buhner's book, and was doing his herbal Lyme protocol when I started having seizures. This was something I surely didn't expect. This happened twice--needing hospitalization because I went unconscious for an extended period of time. I was at a pretty low dose of the herbs, and had been adding herbs one at a time.
And, I had seizures again (but less severe) when I was doing a different treatment program.
I found the book quite thorough at the time.
Before taking the Lyme herbs, I did his herbal babesia treatment to a pretty decent result, also. Then, about a year later while under treatment with an LLMD, I was on Mepron/Zith for about 6 months, so I wouldn't say that the babesia was handled by taking the herbs.
I found the KPU supplements were more workable for me. Dr. K now starts everyone with Lyme on those.
If I were going to do a non-antibiotic routine, that's where I'd start. Or, with Allergie-Immun drops.
