I was given welchol for diarrhea when on antibiotics and instructed to take it 3 day a day away from food. I didn't take it much because I didn't stay on antibiotics for long as I kept not being able to handle anything we tried.
Now I'm switching LLMDs because the one I went to do not do anything detox related and I think that may help me.
I'm trying to test out welchol for detox purposes so I can give the new Dr some feedback on that, but I'm not sure of the dosaging and when to take it for detox purposes.
The instructions on welchol say to take it with food and a lot of water, is that also true for detox?
Also, how many times a day and at what dosage have you been put on this for?

I took it once for detoxing, but that was years ago. Can't remember!!!! Sorry!!!
All I remember is that I couldn't tolerate it. Gave me horrible stomach pain.

I got two different dosages at different times prescribed by my LLMD: 3 pills at a time, twice a day (that's a lot of stuff) 1 pill at a time, three times a day- this was about 2 years later (I hadn't been on Welchol in the intervening time).
when I double-checked with him about the dosage the second time, he confirmed that it was correct. I think I've seen something on the internet where the higher dosage was listed as typical for cholesterol.
I think they're 600 mg pills, but my memory fails me on that.

My new LLMD just prescribed welchol for me. 1 625mg tab twice a day. I'm also trying to figure out where to fit it into my meal & med schedule. Confusing! I'm taking abx w/breakfast & dinner. Suggestions?
