What are the top 5 websites to get supplements from? I am trying to compare prices and am just wondering? Thanks for the help.

Prices are very good on vitacost, and on iherb, there are usually a lot of reviews, which I like to read. And the prices on iherb are good too.
I use both of these sites very regularly. I even buy my bath and body stuff from them, because it is cheaper from the websites, even with shipping, than buying it locally.

- not for lyme supplements, per se, but other good supplements in general.
The also have an excellent library of articles on many health subjects, with great citations at the end of each article showing their research sources.
As for VRP's products - they are very fresh. They don't sit around a hot warehouse for a long time as others may. They also have strict quality control manufacturing practices that you can read about at their site.
ProHealth, too, has many support supplements (though not the protocol supplements) for those with "fibromyalgia," "CFS," and lyme.
They also have a fairly decent library but, be careful, as they don't do their own research and seem to not ask questions of some of the authors. Still, I have learned a few things there. -

I consider iHerb the best. Free shipping once you reach $40, freebies, VIP discounts + price-matching if order is over $60.
Swanson's is also a good one, especially when they have a special sale on something you want. Very inexpensive prices sometimes.

Vitamin Shoppe has good prices on private label supplements and has sales 2 times a year (April and October) where their brand of supplements are buy one get one 50 % off. Also sends lots of email coupons. And has a frequent buyer program -- get an annual coupon for free products based on annual spending.
Lucky vitamin has a good price on Spiro Kete supplement from Kroeger Herb and very good prices on Herb Pharm and Natures Answer tinctures.

Most "vitamins" are made by drug companies.
" " " synthetic parts of naturally occurring substances. This means that most of the vitamins do not have all the naturally occurring parts that nature always puts together.
Think there may be reasons why God + Nature always make them in certain ways ?
Seems like everyone wants to buy them but nobody wants to study vitamins except for price ?

Does a Mercedes run well on cheap kerosene ?
Chemically made synthetic fractions of "vitamins" actually stress your body more.
There are some uses of these fractions that can help some. IV "C" (ascorbic acid) has been useful for some with tough cases of lyme.

massman I'm missing your point. Are you saying one should not take supplements or that one should only take good quality ones?

lightparfait That's a good site. It carries only first tier pharmaceutical grade supplements that are sold to Integrative doctors.

I think Massman is saying that eating real food is preferred over consuming synthetic vitamins. And that's true.
But don't assume all supplements are vitamins. Fish oil, polyphenols, etc. aren't synthetic vitamins.
And certain synthetic vitamins are exactly the same as the natural forms, so if deficient, it'd be wise to supplement. D3 comes to mind. Your choice is 'natural' sunlight, or D3 in capsule form, and there really is no difference (besides an increased chance of skin cancer from the sun).

No synthetics can be the same as truly natural. The synthetics have never been alive !
And there are many parts that we are not aware of and that we cannot measure. Many will say that those other parts do nothing (personal conversation with Linus Pauling Institute)
Vitamins are now mostly used like drugs. And the fractions are used in high doses. IME true vitimins if used are needed in much smaller doses.
True Vitamin E ? 5 to 8 IU. Fake E ? 400 to 800 IU of d-alpha tocopherol.
Bit of a difference ? But "everybody knows" that is what is recommended and almost everybody does what "everybody knows."
"The Real Truth About Vitamins and Antioxidants" by Judith DeCava is a great source of info.
