First, I was curious if anyone tries to ignore the pain. Quite a few times I became involved in something physical or for example, went to the gym and worked through the pain...knowing that it is not a physical tear, break, or strain/sprain. Do you all think this is OK? I can't stand allowing this thing to stop me from living a physical life so I push on through terrible pain. Anyone else do this and not too worried? Sometimes it feels like I am being stabbed in the joints or muscles while doing something physical, but I push forward.

Also, on a side note. Anyone find a good pain reliever, natural or otherwise? I can't stand the pain and it is destroying my life. My doc will not give me anything!

Pain is my biggest problem. Back, knees and feet/ankles are the worst. Also thigh muscle pain. I can walk or stand for about 10-15 straight minutes until the pain becomes practically unbearable and I need to sit. I was once very athletic--basketball and skateboarding took up almost all of my free time. I used to fight through pain while playing sports, but it's just gotten worse and worse. Marijuana (lots of controversy) is something that works for me 100% of the time--I only use it on days like today where I had to go for a walk.

Working out helped with pain relief. Are you married? Sex is temporary relief, yes, I know it's hard to feel in the mood, but it helps. My chiropractor was telling me that pain and pleasure have an inverse relationship, so if you can trigger pleasure, it relieves the pain temporarily.

Turmeric is good for inflammation. Coffee enemas help get out the toxins. Lymphatic drainage massage also helps with toxins.

Pain has always been my worst symptom.

I have never taken anything prescription because I never wanted to, and non-prescription pain relievers do not touch the pain.

I just live with it.

I exercise regularly and just try to do my best to ignore the pain and function everyday.

Hi there,

This is what I do for pain.

Cinnamon capsules 500 mg 2 pills 2 x a day for joint pain. If bad add vicodin and soma.

Ice and massage for headache along with aspirin, vicodin and soma. If lots of pressure in base of skull I add Diamox (diuretic).

Sometimes I take a hot bath with Epsom salts.

I'm trying not to take too much of the pain pills, etc. So I take half up to 1 pill in the evening.

I've been on the pain stuff since 2001. I had a really bad MVA resulting in 2 surgeries and caused additional elbow issues which ended up in another surgery this past Christmas.

Oh, before I forget, if you're not on any antibiotics laying out in the sun helps with pain too.

I get all my pain stuff from my GP. She's great and has really tried to help me with all the joint issues stemming from Lyme and my accident.

Good luck!

I *FINALLY* started taking Advil when it gets too much. I hate meds, but this seems to help. That's mostly for chest pain. I usually just limp through the other stuff. The dizzy spells get me, and up until today I thought I would never have an answer and that if I wanted to do anything I enjoyed again I just better suck it up. Not fun.

Lyme, Bart, possible Babs
Currently on IV Doxy, Bactrim, Zithromax, Nystatin, Mepron
Been on nearly every antibiotic since 10/09

About 60% improvement. Dizziness, air hunger remain.

Coconut oil has helped me a lot with pain. It is much stronger than anyone realizes. 2-3 tablespoons at a time.

It is antifungal, antibacterial and antiparasitic. www.coconutoil.com

Also Humaworm has herbs for pain. Marijuana is a good idea also. There was a thread on here a while back talking about the possible medicinal benefits and that it has antibacterial properties. Sorry, you are suffering.

Richie,

I started tx in 1999 for bb, bart, babs and erlichiosis. I was on antibiotics for 4 yrs. The pain started calming down when I started literally getting rid of parasites and worms over 3 yrs ago.

Tons of them poured out of me for months. I would say the pain started to subside about 1.5 yrs ago. I am convinced that Lyme has a MAJOR component of Parasites.

I think Filarial Worms can be one of the co-infections which Burgdorfer found in the ticks he dissected back in the early 80's. Also, dehydration can be a big contributing factor to pain.

I know it's rough Rich, but it can get better.

The only thing that touches my extensive neuropathic pain is marijuana. It's like turning a switch of misery on or off. It also helps immensely with sleep. So, sleep better and neuro pain under control: can't put a value on that.

Otherwise, there is no pharmaceutical that can provide any relief to me...and I've tried them all.

I think anything we can do to take down pain is worth doing. Postural changes, heat to relax muscles, ice to numb swelling, liniments, red light machine, massage tools,

pain meds - yes, I think we should have access to them, from light to stronger. I get a little relief from ibuprofen.

I think you have a right to pain meds from a doc who will discuss them with you. There's nothing wrong with taking some pain meds.

I acclimated to them - that's different from addiction. Because of the acclimation, I recommend pain med rotation so we don't get acclimated to quickly to one. My opinion from my experience.

But the best pain alleviation came from finding the right treatment for me, which is clindamycin abx, 150mg a couple times a day - fibro pain to zero in a week's time, and joint pain down majorly.

Richedie, if you have extreme pain, then I would back off on the workout. You said you know it's not a physical break or tear, but pain means a problem, and you could create a bigger problem by ignoring it.

Just go a little easier till you're at a level you can tolerate the pain. Let your body tell you what you can do.

Sixgoofykids, thanks so much for the explanation of why sex gets rid of pain. (So the old adage that sex "cures" your headache is really true!!LOL)

I've learned through the years to tolerate a great deal of pain, but you should always keep it to a level that it does not make your body tense. That much pain is bad for your whole system.

Once you treat the pain though, you need to realize that the problem that caused the pain is still there. So don't overdo. Perhaps a pain clinic may be helpful.

Wishing you an improvement to your health every day, and keeping you in prayer.

Richie,

I used antiparasitic herbs and the salt/c protocol. (sea salt)

Also you can google curezone + parasites for really good info on these forums and what people are using to get rid of them.

www.curezone.com

Hulda Clark and Humaworm has good info also. Whatever you choose you have to be persistent because you also have to get rid of the larva and eggs. I hope this helps clarify,

Gael

I talked to multiple doctors who said the salt thing is completely bogus because the body will balance the ph level no matter how much salt you consume. I was told that is a dead end to try that protocol.

My pain never gets any better. Nothing helps. Exercise did help but it is hard to do now.

I also have MGUs which they feel was kicked off by the infection. They are finding more and more infected people to have MGUS! Afterall, they believe infection or virus kicks it off.

I am hoping if the infection can be gotten under control, the MGUS numbers will come down.

Richie,

You asked me how "I" got rid of the parasites. From my personal experience I can tell you the salt/c is not bogus.

It's not only about balancing the ph, but about putting these parasites into osmotic shock so they leave the body.

These same doctors usually don't have a clue about the fact that people with Lyme disease are loaded with parasites.

The information I gave you was more about the parasite connection and antiparasitics then it was about the salt/c.

Why you chose to attack the salt/c protocol instead of investigating other possibilties of getting rid of parasites which can cause extreme pain is odd.

Hi Gael,

Thanks for the help. I might try that protocol. Just because a doctor says it is not possible....doesn't mean I have to believe them. They are only human and make mistakes as well.

Did you have to use a certain brand of Sea Salt and Vitamin C? Would you be able to tell me which antiparasitic herbs you took?
Did you have a gram scale to measure the salt?

So, did you do a flush as well like the Hulda flush? Can I do the Salt and Sea along with a flush? Can this be done while taking my meds? My medicine needs to be taken with food and is why I ask!

I am willing to give the same path you took a shot. Can't hurt! I also heard the Hulda Flush is good! Tried that? My doctor and I have talked about parasites and worms but we didn't get into how to get rid of them.

I want to be sure I can take these with my meds. So, I am going to try the salt/C and Humaworm. Not sure if I should do a flush as well.

On a side note, I talked to a few people who both got well on a raw diet and taking enzymes, go figure!

Did you purchase anything from WaterCure? Are they just suggesting lots of water? I don't think I could possibly drink any more water!

Thanks!

Hey Rich,

I use Real Salt and Ester C with bioflavinoids from

www.vitacost.com

Glad to see you are open to trying some antiparasitics. Whatever elae you take, I would take any protocol (herbs...salt/c) a couple of hours away from the antibiotics.

The people at lymestrategies who do salt/c also take a lot of other protocols and I think it would be a good idea to check in there also.

I never got caught up in measuring the salt and c. I just eyeball 1/4 gm of each on a tsp. You can also get measuring spoons. 1/4 gm is approx 1,200 mg. 1 tsp is approx 5,000 mg. Just make sure you ramp up slowly...I did 1/4 tsp each (per day) according to how i was herxing.

In the beginning (2005) I used a lot of herbs from The Monastery of Herbs in Calif. Very strong and they have to be ordered by your doctor. They have specific herbs for almost any pathogen you can think of.

They are expensive. They saved my life, but it wasn't until I started the salt/c that these parasites started to pour out of me.

I think the herbs set them up and they were dying, but the salt made them exit. I use Humaworm now which is very good, but you have to be persistent with any of these antiparasitics.

Sixgoofykids has more experience with the Hulda flush, but I never did it. I heard it was pretty rough. I don't understand how the raw food diet could kill these pathogens. I have done a lot of juicing, macrobiotic cooking, some raw food, but no go.

Enzymes (which i take) can be antiparasitic. You have to take a lot of them to be effective. If you need more info, let me know,

Gael

Thanks Gael!

I don't know if my doctor is into ordering these herbs. Since she knows eother doctors and nutritionists with success in using a raw diet and Protease enzymes, she might be more willing to go that route. However, she is considering adding an anti parasitic regimen to her protocol.

The thing with the raw diet is that it brings you back to how the human body was meant to eat, all raw foods and vastly increases the number of a specific enzyme in your system which are know to greatly increase and strengthen your immune system.

So, is the Real Salt, pure salt? Nothing added? I was looking at the Krystal. If my doc does not want to do an herbal approach yet...I might just do the salt/C and Humaworm on my own. Maybe that could help?

According to article I read, you have to ramp up the salt intake to higher than 1/4 gram a day!? It appears a 1/4 gram would be very small if a tsp is 5 grams! That is less than 1/4 tsp.

Why doesn't Dr. B talk about this in his guidelines???

You said to take the HumaWorm and Salt?C away from the abx.....but what about probiotics? I take those hours from abx.

Proteolytic Enzymes were recommended to me.

Pain is my biggest problem. I've had lyme and co's for six and a half years. I've been in treatment for Four. So, my routine is:
2 2mg Dilaudid a day at most for pain

Wake up, take son to school and go to local hotel to slowly move around in hot tub and get muscle pain under control. If I over do it in the hot tub, I pay all day! So be careful! I find lying on my back and doing jumping jack movements slowly, moves all muscles in my body and gets things loosened up.

Take naproxen if I over do it at any point

Distraction, distraction, distraction. I can't say it enough, if I have things to take my mind off of my pain, it's much better! I crochet, talk to friends, email, watch tv, can't read books much because of the double vision, but if I close one eye, I can read for a little while...reader's digest or guideposts or some little stories.

Massage is crucial! It helps toxins out of the muscles.

Drink, drink, drink water. If I get dehydrated, an evil cycle of pain envelops me. I have even ended up in the hospital because of it. Drink decaf tea, water, lemonade (fresh) or whatever you can

Coffee Enema

Epsom salt/ Apple cider and Baking soda baths to detox skin

Olive and coconut oil really helps as to tumeric and cinnamon. I just add them all to my salads, and cooking and it helps a lot

Heat is my friend. I live in way northern Wisconsin. We have cold 6 months a year. I bundle up in scarves and shawls outside, keep my house at 72 with wood and sleep with heat blanket and biomat to stay warm. when I get cold, I tighten up and cannot relax to relieve the pain

Finally, I meditate a lot! If I can escape my body by releasing my spirit before my pain gets to 7/10, I can avoid experiencing the nasty pain. It takes a while to learn, I started with guided imagery, then read some Buddhist books on meditation, I'm Christian, but their meditation really works well! I have literally had visions that are amazing and can escape my body at any given point in time when needed. It's definitely worth the work to learn! Trust me!

Also, a great strong support network is necessary. I have an 8-yr-old son, but he was two when I got sick. I have two friends who would just take Zach and make him their second son when I couldn't be a mom. My husband works hard to pay for all of our bills, and also having my parents next door has been a HUGE blessing. Explaining your needs to those around you and being honest every day about what your needs are is important to those around you being helpful without guilt.

Diet wise, we eat a whole food diet, without additives or preservatives. This has REALLY helped my pain. Keeping your body PH balanced, and eating right helps a lot. It takes a while to learn it in the beginning, but helps a lot and becomes much easier as time goes on.

Point is, a lot of life changes make a big difference. Take them one at a time and it's manageable. Nothing happens overnight.

Talk to your doctor. Don't hide your feelings - if they're any good, they'll help you manage everything from pain to depression to your infections.

Good luck and hang in there!

Gael, thanks for the info on the salt/c protocol. I'm coming to the end of my med treatment, and looking at alternatives to really kick "Lyme".

Over the past 25 years. I have put the Lyme into remission with a pure diet. not raw food, but rather natural foods, and no sugar..no sugar...no sugar!

However, when i fell off the wagon and began eating like regular people do, it would rebound.

Therefore, though I can't speak to the "raw" food diet, I can say my experience is that a good diet can aid your system in battling Lyme, but for me it was not a cure.

Richie,

Best to take the probiotics at night and also drinking plain kefir can help build your immune system. I used to drink a case a week until I balanced out.

Dr. B along with other very good LLMDs don't seem to be aware of the parasite/worm connection. Remember they are regular MDs schooled just like the others and not taught a lot about parasites.

Dr. K. and his LLMD followers seem to be well aware of this. Dr. K. uses salt/c among other protocols.

A while back I e-mailed lymedocs about these co-infections and the response is in the archives here under filarial worms.

Remember Burgdorfer found Adult Filarial worms in the ticks he dissected, but this is so greatly ignored. The Real Salt is mined in Utah...I believe it is under ancient volcanic ash...

yes it is sea salt and suppossedly not contaminated. Google Real Salt for a history.

There are other sea salts like Himalayan which are good also. Real Salt seems to be the least expensive. I get mine at vitacost. 1/4 tsp per day is a very low dose, but ramping up slowly is important.

I am up to 20 gms a day but it took me a while to get there. It is a very powerful protocol. I also do an enzyme rich antiparasitic smoothie which is in the archives here.

Google antiparasitic herbs and foods and you will find that to be close to what's in the raw food diet...or similar. You want to make the G.I. track as uncomfortable for these parasites as you can so they will leave,

Gael

Richie,

Go to the top of the page here where it says search. Type in key words and old posts will come up. I just brought back the antiparasitic smoothie recipe for you.

Also, I would like to add that eating spicy food is very good for killing bacteria, parasites and fungi. I once had a bulls eye come up on my arm after eating spicy Indian food. Another example is Thai food.

This was witnessed by a nurse friend of mine.

P. S. This bulls eye was over 25yrs old where an engorged tick was attached,

Wow gael, the bullseye rash after 25 years is amazing. Our experiences would fill a book!

richedie, by a good diet I mean absolutely no sugar, (repeat three times). Eating lots of veggies, only whole grains, meat and only fruits that are not too high in sugar. I usually ate some pink grapefruit. I had oatmeal for breakfast each day, and either spinach or broccoli at lunch.

The year it infected my heart, and we didn't know it was Lyme back then, I had tachycardia, pain in chest, difficulty breathing.

Still treated with great nutrition, but discovered brewers yeast. Helped with the chest pain as well as the tachycardia/ arythmia.

I know some say not to do anything with yeast, but this stuff saved me so i do it. I just make sure I take my probiotics.

Like I said, the path is different for everyone. I do research, try different things, and keep what works.

Sorry I can't help out more with the pain issue. What type of pain is it? Joint, muscle and how widespread?

Does soaking in an epsom salt bath help?

Gael, it is all so confusing - there are so many protocols I see for parasites, etc. Right now I eat lots of raw garlic and raw fresh ginger, cloves, etc.

I might look into the Andrographia.

Do you know if one can get rid of these things with the Salt/C alone?

Finally, you said you eye up about a 1/4 teaspoon of salt? Didn't you ramp up to the full dose? What is the full dose?

I am stopping at Whole Foods this week and I'll see what type of salt they have. I also have a raw foods/smoothie bar near us and they might carry some.

Richie,

Antiparasitic herbs have to include WORMWOOD, BLACK WALNUT HULL and CLOVES.

Garlic and ginger can be an adjunct but are not strong enough by themselves. I have used Humaworm 2 x and have had good results.

Salt/c is very powerful and I would encourage you to join lymestrategies because these are the people with Lyme using salt/c and other protocols.

I ramped up slowly 1/4 tsp of salt and 1/4tsp vitamin C per day and ramped up 1/4 tsp at a time according to how I was herxing...to 20 gms, (in a large glass of water) but not everyone uses that amount. You can order the salt from vitacost. I use Real Salt, but any good sea salt is okay.

Hulda Clark also has an antiparasitic program. Like I said in a previous post I used a lot of antiparasitic herbs and also salt/c.

It was the salt/c the made them leave. You might want to go to the curezone forums and you will see the different protocols used for parasites. It is a very good site. You can google parasites + curezone or

www.curezone.com

Hope this helps clarify.

Richie,

I have tried to join, but yahoo keeps saying I have an invalid password. I know Marc charges for the e-book (I thought I sent you a copy quite a while ago) but I didn't think it costs money to join, but not sure. I usually view the new messages but don't interact. [confused]

richeide, I too am having bad foot pain right now. Actually ankle and foot.

Am going to try an ankle brace and some heat/cold therapy. Will let you know if I get any relief.

Massage really helps, and you can do that yourself.

Where is your foot pain? Does soaking in an epsom salt bath help your joint/muscle pain?

Sometimes the foot pain is only in the soles, only the ball of the foot, sometimes the entire foot aches and sometimes the ankle. When it gets really bad, the foot can turn dark red, purple or blue.

One fear with the Salt?C I have is the Potassium/Sodium ratio. You want to be heavier toward the Potassium side for healthier joints and many other reasons.

I eat a lot of potassium rich foods such as bannana, potatoes, avocado, cucumber, tomatoes cabbage etc.

If you google potassium rich foods you will see a list of these foods. I think it's much better to eat foods high in potassium rather than taking pills.

I eat a lot of these foods and have never had a problem.

Have you contacted your LLMD. I am concerned about the foot turning colors when this is happening. That's never a good sign.

Could be a serious issue. Please call your Dr.

Keeping you in prayer.

Yes, I eat plenty of high potassium foods. I was in school to be a nutritionist and know nutrition well so I do know what to eat. I also agree about pills.....except in the case of Lyme. This disease can rob you of nutritents so it can be essential to add supplements.

Gael, you might have to watch the sugar eating so many bananas and taking abx.

However, that is a lot of salt. I have been trying it but no change thus far.

Yes, my limbs turn color, but my LLMD said she sees this all the time with these infections. Seems common on the forum.

Now I am back to Mepron/Zith + Ceftin so far since September 10th(1 month)....and no better!
My left arm hurts so bad, I want to cut it off or jump off a bridge.

I am just waiting for a day when I can wake up and feel like my old self and feel the pain subside.

The should feels like I have torn deltoid muscles, shredded ligaments and tendons, feels like the muscles of this arm were beaten with a bat, the elbow is in horrible pain, the wrist hurts like hell, the hand hurts, is terribly mottled and changes color.

Cant work out,

I tried once or twice actually for a while pushing through the pain. It doesnt help.

When your not recouperating like normal its a waste to work out.

I walk enough on my job, now I just use the sauna if anything.

When I used to work out I would pop Advil, then my cortisol would be up all night, I would OD on drugs to try and sleep.

Now I dont even bother, take Klonopin now and Triavil and I still cant see my self working out.

Still pay for the gym membership too.

Maybee Sativa?

Swimming is good but I dont have a pool. I am not overweight, in fact I could use some muscle.

Thats the problem I have muscle pain to begin with.

Well I did, but afterwards each time I would be in pain and have to lay down for an hour or so.

Keep in mind, aerobic exercise is not what you want to be doing in this case! It supresses T Cells and certainly not every day when you have Lyme.
