What does Bartonella heel pain feel like? Is it like tendonitis or is it distinctly in the heel?

Sometimes I get throbbing pains in my heel area, just a few a day, but now I have what I think is achilles tendonitis.

Just want to make sure its not lyme and coinfection symptom.

Thanks!

For me the whole bottom of my GD feet hurt so bad I can't put pressure on them some days at all, can't really narrow it down to a certain area like heel, etc.

Ouch. Your foot pain sounds really tough. What are you taking for it?

Thanks for the reply!

I think I'll treat it as tendonitis.

Now my arms and hands hurt...this is such a drag!!! I never know what is what!

Have a good night.

for me bartonella pain was like my bones were constantly touching on raw concrete.

all of my shoes hurt, and the tops of my feet felt bruised and ached .

the heels hurt the worse like i had been walking around on just my heels, especially after a few minutes shopping, etc.

the pain also migrated around the foot.

it seemed to clear up after 2 months of rifampin.

good luck and hope you feel better.

So sorry you are in pain. And it does hurt!

I'll share my experience in the event it may help someone.

A friend just yesterday told me they found Neurotin and Ultram to help for some folks for this type of pain. BUT...

Before I had a chance to try it, the pain was so nasty last night I HAD to do something right away. I literally could not stand for more than a minute ... and could barely walk at all.

When I tried to walk I was in BIG time pain. It is the first time I remember having to ask someone to get this and do that because it hurt too much to move.

Anyhow... for some reason I decided to soak my feet in very warm water with some coconut soap added (for nice smell and bubbles only) and a good amount of Epsom salts.

I was in enough pain though... that if anyone had told me to soak my head in that bucket I would have.

I alternated my feet in and out of the 'one-foot size' bucket for at least an hour.

I then put on this light minty herbal stuff for feet that I got from a Bed and Bath store, in a grab bag gift thing. Don't know what made me do that.. it just felt like something to do.

The product was:

C.O. Bigelow
Mentha Foot Tingling Foot Cream
$14.00

http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/search/index.jsp?sr=1&kw=feet&kwCatId=&origkw=feet&pg=3

I don't know why... but the next morning the pain had lessened a lot... to about 1/4 of what it had been.

I was shocked!

There is no way would I have thought any of that would have helped... but it really did.

As the day wore on today.. and I had to go out, so walking was involved....

My feet got a bit worse; so tonight I tried it again.

Will let you know how it feels in the next day or so.

I can NOT say this will help anyone else... but it did help me... and I am sooooooooooooooo grateful for some relief.

The pain IS caused by Bartonella. I tested positive in the past for the three strains in the test panel.

Hope maybe this helps someone with this nasty pain.

BTW-

Years ago the way I could tell if someone might have Bartonella was to rub my fingers... with some light pressure.. or tell them to do it...

Up and along the shin bones and to either side of the shin bones... from the front of the ankle to just below the knee cap.

It should NOT be real painful to do that.

If it is, suspect Bartonella... specifically Bartonella quintana, at the least.

It is also called trench fever (military in close quarters use to get it from being in close contact with others who had lice... which is how it was suppose to be passed along).

Bartonella quintana is known to affect the shin bones and cause pain there.

I don't know (don't know others who know) if this pain in the shins is ONLY happening with this Bartonella strain or if others can be involved.

But trying this might help in a diagnosis and if it is present... you might want to consider Bartonella.

If that shin pain isn't there... feel lucky... but remember that it doesn't rule out Bartonella.

Hi, all, I want to say that I have been suffering with horrific pain in my feet for several years. I have massage slippers that help to a small degree and also cannot stand more that one minute at best for the pain is unbearable. When it becomes too much I have to resort to a narcotic for relief.

Just last week Abxnomore told me to soak my feet in the warmest water I could stand and put nice amount of epsom salt disolved in water and to soak at least 20 minute minimum and if I wanted to soak longer was not a problem.

I was so amazed at the relief I had right after the very first time. It helps so much and can be done 2X per day. It helps with the pain sooooo much. I recommend any ankle feet pain to soak in the warmest temp possible.

My feet feel 70% better and this is better than having to take my narcotic for pain. I now do this wonderful soak every day.

It is even better if you do it twice a day
but continue every day, it gets better and better.

Thank you abxnomore for giving great advice and my feet thank you as well.

Thank you everyone.

I will try the epsom salt foot soak today. I am glad this has helped you.

I know I have Bartonella and I am supposed to start Factive next week. I think what I have going on is tendonitis, especially after reading these posts. But who really knows with Lyme right?

So I think I am holding off on fluoroquinolones for now!

Have a good day.
