I am doing 1 tab 2x daily. Once tolerated increase to 2 tabs 2x daily. But I was told to drop my Zithromax which I have been taking for a while now. Strange right?
Also getting off Rifampin and now on to Babs treatment. Never treated babs, so hoping for the best.
So I am doing Moxatag (Amoxycillin time release caps), Malarone, Crypto-plus, Raintree Myco (mycoplasma infection) and blood terrain.
I my just stay on the Zith as I have never heard of treating babs without the zithromax in there.
Any advice?

You don't have to take a macrolide with malarone. Just Mepron.

Babesia has been shown to become drug resistant without zithromax.
Malorone contains Mepron in tablet form along with another ingredient.
My wife was on Mepron / Zithromax for many months before she plateaued.
When our LLMD said drop the zithromax and continue the Mepron, we fired her.
I will not risk creating a drug resistant Babesia pathogen.
We started with a new LLMD and he has agreed with my recommendation to go with Malorone, Zithromax, and high dose ( 800 - 1000mG / day, 3 weeks on / 1 week off) Artemisinin.
My wife has made major, major, progress against her Babesia co-infection.
She can walk and be on her feet 12, 13, or sometimes 14 hours per day now, day after day.
Before anti-babesia treatment she could only manage 2 or 3 hours per day on her feet before she had to get back into bed for the rest of the day and evening until the next morning.
She is still sick with Borrelia and Bartonella.
We have been dealing with tick-borne illness for approximately 6 1/2 years now.
(Back then my wife received the standard IDSA treatment after getting bitten by a tick, but no anti-co-infection treatment.)
Godspeed.

Another vote here to stay on a macrolide (like Zithromax or Biaxin) while on Malarone.
Why risk developing resistance?

I took Malarone alone! I felt good while I was on it. Just not sure if I stayed on it long enough.

I thought the other ingredient in Malarone was there for the same purpose that you take Mepron with Zith.

I don't think you have to take the macrolide with it. I think art is important though.

My LLMD only has me on 1 malarone tablet a day. Is that enough?
Actually, I had to beg her Malarone.
Her 'thing' seems to be that everyone has bart, which is true. But babesia is every bit a part of me as bart is. Hope I can convince her.
I'm definitely sweating less on Malarone.

I'm on only Malarone and it works nicely. Still making progress on it. I just hope to see "functional" progress and not just a decrease in night sweats.
