I have been on various abx for 4 years now, the latest being azithromyacin. We are trying this for various reasons.
3 days after I started taking it, I began having horrible dizziness. I have just 1 day left on the med. I assume it is part of a herx.
What I'm wondering is, just how long will the effects stay with me?
This was sort of an experiment - my RA symtoms have worsened over the last months and my LLMD read that zith reduces the inflamation in some RA sufferers, so decided to give it a try - no harm, no foul as it would kill off lyme too. It hasn't helped with the inflamation, though.
Any thoughts?

I would say if you are herxing you need further treatment. I would try vitamin E for the RA. symptoms. It is helping me at 600 a day.

Thank you. I know I need further treatment, and I will go back on Biaxin/Plaquenil soon. This was just an experiment. I'm just hoping that the dizziness goes away.

I am dealing with vetigo too. Also on zith. I don't know if that has anything to do with it though? I don't have any good answers, just wanted to send you a hug cuz I know it's rough to deal with this. Hope you start to feel betters soon!

For right now, ginger capsules, ginger tea - or go to your spice cabinet and mix some ginger powder in a little warm water, then add hot water for a tea. A touch of honey or agave with it can also help calm the nausea/vertigo circle.
What is your liver support (Milk Thistle, NAC?) That will help protect your ears as zith can be very hard on ears. You also might ask your doctor to change meds.
Zith and mino (and sometimes Biaxin) are the hardest on the ears. (Though some seem to do great with mino). But, even with good liver support and all the ginger tea in the world, some people just can't handle zith.

My conclusion is that NAC should be the first agent in an anti-chlamydial regimen and should be a constant part of the therapy for this protective effect, not to mention it's effect against elementary bodies.
