How much time elapsed between your first Lyme symptom and the start of your antibiotic treatment?
Or, how many of you saw the tick, removed it, developed symptoms, and then got antibiotic treatment within a month of the tick bite? If so, are you having trouble getting back to 100%?
Is it still true that the earlier you get diagnosed and treated, the better off you'll be?
Thanks.

I found 2 ticks on me in August 08, developed small pencil eraser size bulls eye, (I was too busy for DR and decided that if I got sick then I would go see DR) "Big Mistake" I began to see Doctors in November 08 due to fatigue, etc. Didn't put together symptoms with tick bite until June 2009
Many test and DR visits with scans, xrays, blood work, no real problems. Asked for lyme test in June remembering tick bite when friends at my barn mentioned and asked if I had been tested for lyme. (MY barn is heavily wooded, where we horse back ride with lots of ticks.) Lyme test was positive by Quest lab IGM WB but not CDC so I came here to find my LLMD.
Began ABX in June 2009 so 10 months before treatment for me. Going slowly, went downhill further after abx treatment but crawling back out slowly.

8 weeks from tick exposure to first tx. But it didn't work: I've been on tx for 2 1/2 years and still fighting. I am better than I was at first, but still only a fraction of the person I once was. I am still legally disabled. Just identified and started treating co-infections recently so hopefully it will all end soon.

25 years. Medical professionals won't tell people here. Have to get the info about Lyme from the internet or some other way, like currently, UOS showings.
Have you been recently exposed? Yes, you do stand a better chance if you get treated early.
But also with a high enough abx dose. If folks go to a doctor and get too small a dose of abx, ie, the dose recommended by the weak IDSA guidelines, then we end up going chronic.
This happened to a friend here - went to the doc with a known tick bite, put on low amount of abx, and got sick.
That's why people have to go to LLMDs or study up to know what they need to be doing.

I really am not sure. Guessing that some of those weird symptoms that came and went could have been lyme related but I was still able to go to college, work, take care of a home and yard, etc.
Then in Oct 2001, got too sick to work or do routine chores around the house.
It took 18 months to finally get a dx as to why and start treatment.
When the docs were at a lost, I started doing research myself and learned I had all the symptoms of lyme disease but one.
Brought in the list to docs and was told that there is no lyme here...I wondered where here was.
I was even tested twice but both times the doctor's lost the test results when I asked for a copy.
I was told I was fine. Wrong.

One Month after I was bedridden but that treatment was for 3 months.
Then it took 4 years after that for me to get more ongoing ABX treatment.

Rash developed about 1 month after tick bite along with severe fatigue and migrating joint pain. On antibiotics the next day. Did 2 months of antibiotics (Doxy). Now symptom free.

I saw the tick and removed it, developed symptoms, and started doxy less than 3 weeks later.
So far I have been treating for 2 years. I'm quite functional, but still fatigued and achy.

Lots of tick exposure, got ill end of May this year, started on Doxy within 48 hours. Went on to develop neurological symptoms-by August was on 28 days IV Rocephin. Felt great, but 2 days after treatment ended, symptoms returned, along with some new ones (achey joints and muscles)
Most symptoms resolved and I was feeling close to normal, but then I got H1N1 and the Lyme neuro stuff flared up again terribly! Took about a month to stop. Currently, symptoms are mild, and I am still hoping that my early treatment will mean that I will stop at the early disseminated stage.
BTW-I have spoken with 3 folks who either had Lyme, or had a friend/family member with Lyme that was treated early, and all 3 were symptom free within 6 months to a year post treatment...so have hope! I still do!
