I thought I would share this in case anyone out there is in the same boat.
Early on in my Lyme adventure, actually my first symptom, was an unrelenting frontal headache...for 2.5 years, yes, YEARS. Neurologist, ENT, Sinus MRI, CT....nothing. The sinus CT said "slight mucosal thickening, but that shouldn't be a problem".

In desperation, I tried everythying. Finally, I quit all dairy. Nothing. Then I added guaifenisen 1200mg per day (mucinex) and did sinus flushes with the NeilMed flush kit. That combination did it.

It appears to me that I have developed a sensitivity to dairy (triggered by the lyme?) that causes something to happen in my sinuses...something that guaifenisen seems to address. Now, I drink rice milk. If I start to allow myself too much diary, or I miss my mucinex pills for a few days, the headache comes right back.

If somebody had only suggested this to me...I could have saved over 2 years of agony. I am sure it is NOT the answer to most headaches, but it was for mine and I share it in the hope that maybe this combo will help one of you.

By the way, give it a few weeks to start working. That was my experience, at least.

My wife also has lyme, and it has also triggered a sensitivity in her...but unfortunately it is to gluten. She has had to dramatically alter her diet.

Thanks for sharing John.

I too find that when I get into dairy, the mucus formation starts and often wake up with a sinus headache.

Often times it's the sugar in the dairy that causes fungus to grow in the sinus and really what ya got is a yeast infection in there. No fun at all.
