I'm about to start taking minocycline for bartonella and I have two questions.
I will also be on bicillin shots and taking levaquin.
1. Did you herx?
2. Does it make you photosensitive?
Thanks for your help!

I am currently only on minocycline and levaquin, and yes, I HERXED to beat the band. Day six and I thought I was going to die!
The good news is my llmd told me that this is a six week protocol and we should be able to get the bart in that short amount of time.
Unlike my lyme that took three rounds of IV abx, each lasting about 6 months.
Good luck to you! PM me if you have any specific questions.

So.. Tell me.
IS three rounds of IV abx for 6 months each a standaard or determined time frame for getting rid of Lyme?
Did you do that staright and change meds? or with breaks?
Anyone else heard of any time frames quoted to you?
I have heard up to 6 months for IV treatment as kind of the standard.

I started Minocycline while on Bicillin. I didn't herx too badly at all, but my friend, who is also on Bicillin is herxing like crazy; so it could go either way. I always recommend starting slow and working up to the full dosage.
I don't think it is photosensitive.

I take Minocycline (100 once a day) and didn't noticed any herx at all. I take mine with Biaxin though...

Minocycline as well as all Tetracyclines are photosensitive; but Mino is not nearly as bad as Doxy.

Thank you to all who answered!
I'm still waiting for the herx and being in the sun hasn't been a problem so far. Yes, it's still in the 70's here.
