Hi,

Am at my wits end w/ yeast.

Had a major yeast struggle from May - September.

Then in September I was just ready to go back on abx when I drank black tea for a week, not knowing that black tea is fermented.

Just completed a week of diflucan, and it's still there.

Can I take more than one herbal antifungal at a time?

My LLMD said its okay to use Nystatin and Diflucan at the same time. Garlic is great for yeast as well!

Thanks! [Smile]

I use Nystatin all the time, and combine it w/ Diflucan when I'm on that as well.

Can you throw in the whole ball of wax together, like garlic, oregano, olive leaf, pau de arco, grape seed extract, tea tree oil, etc...can you mix and match those?

I also take probiotics.

I take all those herbals, and would take more if i could find them, since nothing works.

If you take Nystatin all the time, aren't the bugs resistant by now? I read on one Candida website (there are many) that Nystatin causes resistance after 21 days.

Be careful with the tea tree oil, though--- i believe it's not for internal consumption, or not more than a very few drops anywhay, and you should be taking liver protecting herbs, like milk thistle, etc, because essential oils could damage your liver, i think.

NSI's Candida Yeast Management [vitacost] is a good
product.

Thanks!

I can't really tell re the Nystatin resistance. When I had my yeast somewhat controlled in September, if I forgot to take the Nystatin I would really notice a difference.

But when my yeast is bad, it doesn't seem to do anything. Don't know if it's resistance or if the yeast is just that bad.

I tried the NSI Candida Yeast Mgmt, but I really didn't see great results from that product, which was a bummer, because it's supposed to be great. (I'm sure it is great, it just didn't work for me.)

Thanks for the warning re tea tree oil. I only take it when I take the Solaray Yeast Cleanse capsules, of which the tea tree oil is a component.

And I take milk thistle. [Smile]

It's just tremendously frustrating. I feel like I'm doing everything I can but still have this problem. I've only been on abx for two weeks total.

The herbal antifungals are also antibiotics, and, in September, when my yeast was manageable, I did have lyme/coinfection herxes from the herbals, but if the yeast is out of control, the herbal antifungals don't produce any kind of herxes, whether they be herxes due to yeast or lyme/coinfections.

I found an effective probiotic, though, which is what got me through September. I've upped my dose and am hoping for the best!

Thanks!

I found out I had candida krusie, which traditional yeast herbal and meds don't work for! There is one type of herb that helps..my acupuncturist was able to give me a chinese formula with coptis and something else(phellostatin?) which actually is the only stuff for this kind of "yeast"
Maybe you need to find out what kind of yeast you have..I took diflucan with mno results..now I know why

I also take Rain-Tree brand Amazon A-F, which is their anti-fungal pill, but i don't notice that it does anything at all. I will not buy this again.

One thing that does help a lot is CANDEX; several enzymes that dissolve the yeast.

I started using the Virgin Coconut Oil which people recommend, and it probably helps, but when i realize it is almost pure saturated fat, i can't overcome my negative idea of such stuff.

Selma, who posts as "Brussels", frequently says that Sanum homeopathic products cured her many fungus infections.

I also take a little cinnamon, cloves, raw garlic, Allimax when i can afford it, and olive leaf extract if there is a time slot that doesn't conflict with antibiotics.

How many nystatin are you taking a day? My LLMD said you can work up to 4 @ 4 times a day, 16 total. Maybe we are not taking enough of it-

I'm taking 4 Nystatins/day. Maybe I should take more...my dr says it's non-toxic.

I had a Genova stool test done to try to determine what kind of yeast I had, but the results were not very clear.

The test showed a deficiency of good gut flora, but they also showed no yeast whatsoever.

The yeast was definitely active when I did the test, though!

If I thought the test were accurate, I'd do it again in a heartbeat, but it cost over 100, with insurance.

Thanks for the tips, everyone!
