I just started taking nattokinase yesterday and today I have a slight headache and feel like I'm having a mild herx. Is this normal?
I wonder, is there any vitamin, supplement or medication that should NOT be taken too close to the time of taking nattonkinase?
For those who have taken nattonkinase, how did you do with it? Did you notice improvements (or side effects), if so, in what way and how long did it take?

I didn't notice any change with nattokinase. I would think you could have a mild herx if fibers are broken up because it probably releases toxins stuck in the fibers. But I don't think nattokinase is the type of thing to work quite that quickly. Could also be a coincidence or an allergic type reaction.

My LLMD said there was some thought that it might break up biofilms. Maybe it is, and that's why you're herxing a bit?

I take it and I do not notice anything different, I am taking it because it was recommended by my LLMD.

I've been taking high dose nattokinase for 4 years, concurrently with antibiotics and dozens of herbals. I also take serrapeptase on empty stomach twice a day with empty-stomach pills.
I have gene giving a minor propensity for blood clots, plus lyme hypercoagulation, so i really notice the difference, and depend on symptoms to tell me how much to take.
In the last few months, i had to raise my dose, presumably because of worsened Candida. But in the last week i had to lower my dose way down, presumable because of Candida treatment and improvement. Candida also makes something using fibrin--- so the nattokinase , i assume, is attacking the Candida too.
Nattokinase doesn't give me any sideeffect symptoms like you described.
If i feel little random spot pains or even one pain in the lower legs, i take that a signal i need more nattokinase. When i first started taking it, i had more basic hypercoagulation symptoms, including, i believe, nasal congestion and lung "congestion" or something in the bottom third of my lungs. Those went away with nattokinase.

pamoisondelune, thanks for your reply to my questions. I had no idea that natto helped with candida. I believe I have a bad case of it now so I'm glad to know that it helps with this.

Gary---Of course! There are a lot of recent threads on this.
Candex is about the best thing, i think.
I also take oregano oil pills, ppeppermint oil pills, grapefruit seed extract (GSE), berberine found in the COPTIS pills i take for babesia, Allicin or Allimax when i can afford it, raw garlic if i'm not going to socialize, olive leaf extract if i'm not taking an antibioitcs dose, Virgin Coconut Oil and Caprylic acid pills if i'm not concerned about the saturated fat, Diflucan or Nystatin if i'm desperate, walnut hull pills if i'm desperate, and i forget what else.
It's just my own idea that nattokinase might be helping with the Candida--- i haven't read that. I'm just putting two and two together since i did read that candida makes something with fibrin. Actually i just googled it; maybe i got the idea wrong; there is research about candida attaching to fibrin-platelet clots.
