Hi

Does anyone know if IV levaquin and IV zithromax work well together? I read something written by Dr B saying levaquin should not be combined with erythromycin type drug. I thought these two IV's were ok together? And powerful against Bartonella. Just making sure...

I'm my 3rd day of this combo, along with mycobutin, mepron and art.

Thanks!!!!
Mandy

Be careful of serious side effects with the levaquin.

I'm glad I'm not the one taking all that!!

I ran Levaquin and Zithromax through the interaction checker on drugs.com. It came up with a moderate interaction.

Both drugs can cause a prolonged QT interval which can increase your risk for having a dangerous heart rhythm. You should run this by your doctor just to be safe.

Thxs all

Yes lymetoo it's good I'm the one not you on all this crazy stuff!!

Sammy thank you for checking for me! now I'm a bit worried but for another reason..heart stuff is not fun I haven't had any pain or tachycardia lately. I did on claforan and clindamycin though.

James..I haven't talked to him about it. I should call next week and double check. When I was there I immediately thought the two were safe if he was putting me on them and trust his judgement. Maybe he's seen alot of clinical experience w/ no problems and success?

My main concern is the levaquin not working well or to it's potential because of the IV Zith.

Thanks again!
Mandy

When I had Dr. B I took Zithromax and Levaquin together for bartonella treatment, so I don't understand if there was some kind of danger why I was on that for 4 months. Mine was orally, not IV.

there is no danger, but dr. b says that levaquin combined with a macrolid drug doesnt work together because the tavanic will loose his effect.

Daniel EXACTLY!!! Why would Dr B state levaquin will lose it's effect but like WildCondor says..put people on it at the same time?

I'll have to ask my llmd. I don't want to take this nasty levaquin if I'm not getting the full benefit from it.

I'm sure my llmd thinks it's ok, otherwise he wouldn't have used the two together.

I forgot to ask WildCondor, did you successfully eradicate your bart taking levaquin and zith and how long did it take all together?

Thanks!
Mandy
