I started Cytamel (for mild Hypothryoid) this weekend and actually had more energy than I've had in a couple of years.
The only bad thing is that I felt a little jittery, had mild pains on the left side of my chest, dreamt like crazy and woke up several times during the night wide awake.
Anyone else have these symptoms while on cytamel?
I believe I'm on the lowest dose available.
Thanks all!

Initially, on any knd of thyroid hormone, you will experience hyper symptoms. This will pass after at the most 4 days, say the thyroid patients.
Usually they are on t4 only meds, or a combo, like natural Thyroid (desiccated Thyroid) For example, half a grain of Thyroid contains about 4-4,5 g t3 plus about 16 g t4.
What will happen now, is that the TSH which is a feedback hormone, will go down a bit, and then in return the output from the thyroid gland will be less thyroid hormone.....and also the ft4 will go down, and possibly the ft3 will stay the same.....
Hopefully the low amount of liothyronine (t3) will not lower the TSH so much it causes less thyroid output, but you must be warned. Maybe it works out just fine.
What were you blood tests like? TSH, ft4, ft3 If TSH is highish and ft4 and ft3 lowish, then desiccated Thyroid could work if you do not do well on t3 alone.

Free T3 contiues to lower over last two years Fee T4 continues to lower over last two years Reverse T3 continues to increase over last two years
Doctor said with this trend, fatigue, and weight gain that the cytamel might help.

- That jittery feeling can be awful. I hope it passes soon. If not, don't put up with it as extremes in energy can be stressful for the adrenals and it would mean that your prescription would need adjustment.
You might need some adrenal support in addition.
Be sure to check out books and articles on "Adaptogens" regarding adrenal support. That is a key in stability and endurance.
Singleton's book "The Lyme Disease Solution" also has great suggestions for adrenal support that is so essential during lyme recovery.
Also, you might consider a combination T3-T 4 like Armour or Nature-Throid. I could not tolerate cytomel at all but do well with Nature-Throid and adrenal support. -

- From my file notes:
If you want both T3 and T4 together in a synthetic, Thyrolar is supposed to work better than just adding cytomel to synthroid.
Thyrolar, a synthetic product combining triiodothyronine (T3) containing and levothyroxine (T4) . . . .
-==================
Armour is a natural thyroid from pigs. So is Nature-Throid. I've been taking that for years, partly to avoid some of the binders and fillers in the synthetics. While still from pigs, they have a different source than what Armour uses.
You can call them if you have a question but this is prescription. My ND prescribes it but my MD is fine with it, too. It's just under $30 for 100 pills (100 days' supply).

My LLMD automatically replaced Armour with that pure T3. I heard bad things about it so I didn't take it. I don't believe they're easily interchangeable.
