My IgM was negative.

My IgG was 1.57, the reference from this lab being:

>1.16 = seropositive

My LLMD didn't seem concerned, any input?

Why is your LLMD not concerned? Is he not going to treat you? Can you PM me his name or initials or location or something? I am curious if it's who I think it is? If you don't want to I understand, but if you don't mind divulging this info, please PM me.

Well if he is treating you with Mino or Doxy that should take care of the Mycoplasma. I think it takes a year or more to get rid of it.

Does it really? I've heard mixed stories on

doxycycline treating M. pneumonia, though I am on

doxy now for chronic lyme.

The mycoplasma was the only co-infection that

showed up, but compared to some people I've read

on here, my 1.57 seems just barely above the

range so I wasn't too concerned, either. My

immune system has been seriously messed up for

many years and after getting Lyme that only got

worse; it seems like if the Mycoplasma were going

to be serious it would have gained more leeway by

now, doesn' it? The IgM wasn't responsive, so it

cant be anything recent, it's strange that it

would have been around a while and yet not done

anything to me.....of course I'm correlating the

level of IgG titer to the severity of infection,

and in all truth I'm not sure if that's how it

works, but higher numbers mean worse infection,

don't they? Ah I'm rambling, hope this makes

sense...

i've had two llmds not be concerned about low titre viruses-they say get the lyme and then the body will get the viruses

but i think some oon here have said lyme tx didn't work til they got rid of virus-then it did

chicken or the egg????

I think some LLMDs are just afraid of treating viruses and the meds honestly.

I had a high IGG Mycoplasma titer too and my doctor didn't seem concerned either. Is this actually a co-infection or just one of the many viruses we get with a surpressed immune system? Has anyone ever treated this virus?

The advice I give, should not be considered medical advice. My opinion comes from years of research and experience.

Did I confuse people? If so, I'm sorry! M.

pneumoniae is a bacteria, not a virus. [Smile] Thank you

for your replies, I'm starting not to think it's

too concerning since I'm already on treatment for

it inadvertantly (according to most, anyway!),

and the titres don't look too shocking yet. Not

going to worry about it for now...had a bit more

to say but can't think of what order to put the

words, LOL

I once spoke with a mycoplasma expert. They used a different referent range....1:64, not 1.16.

In that reference range, the IgG was considered positive if the result was >=1:64 (which mine was). Upon talking with the specialist, they MAYBE start to be concerned if the titer is >1:200. I was a long way from that, so they did not think mycoplasma to be a problem in me.

Your result is not that much above the reference range. Using the same logic, I would not be concerned with a result such as yours.

Best, Timaca

I'm sure you've seen this, but in case you have not - or for anyone new to mycoplasma. This is the web site for the hard working mycoplasma researcher/author Garth Nicolson (whom I'd like to thank for all his work):

www.immed.org

The Institute for Molecular Medicine

A nonprofit institute dedicated to discovering new diagnostic and therapeutic solutions for chronic mycoplasma infections.

My M. Pneumoniae is always >5. Seriously high and I have rheum arthritis which can come from lyme and Mycoplasma. My doctors take it real serious.

I was on low dose minocycline and later doxycycline for 3 yrs. The titers finally came down enough to be on the charts. 398 was the lowest it ever got.

March 09 I started Mepron for babesia and had to quit the doxy as they contraindicate each other. My mycoplasma shot right back up to >5.

My LLMD/rheumatologist said 2 things. #1-The antibiotic only suppresses the bacteria/virus (it is both) #2-IGG still means current infection to LLMDs.

My RA is really good but I still continue much treatment.
