On Friday night I started having some pain in my lower right abdomen, just inside my hip bone. I also have pain around my hip into my lower back on the right side.
The pain has gotten slightly worse since Friday, and it seems to feel better when I lay down.
What could this be? I've researched appendicitis, and that pain usually starts around your belly button and radiates to your right side.
I really do not want to go to the ER since I've already been numerous times for other things, and its not that severe yet.
Has anyone else had this?

I've had all kinds of lower abdominal and lower back pain that comes and goes. Like yours, it's usually better when I lie down.
I wish I could tell you what it is or what causes it, but I can't.

I have a lot of lower abdominal discomfort and pain. I have a lot in my lower back and laying down seems to help me too. I am not sure what it could be but it is my guess that it is Lyme related. It is always better to be on the safe side though. Maybe mention it to your LLMD? If it does get severe I wouldn't hesitate to go to the ER as it is better to be safe than sorry.
Hope you feel better! :-)

In that position, it could be your right ovary. They can fill up with blood and cause pain.
I had a lot of problems with my right ovary years ago. Laying down, especially on my left side, relieved the pain tremendously.
You could get it checked out by your gyn. Also, keep track of where you are in your monthly cycle. If the pain keeps coming back at the same time in the cycle, that can be a clue.

I have had abdominal pain in the area the size of half dollar on my right side for years. It comes and goes and I have been tested (we know the drill) for everything. The "experts" have now decided that the pain stems from a herniated L-3 disk. My pain would at times wrap around my hip area into my lower back but the pain in the abdomen was constant.

That's where much of my primary pain has been. I kept going to orthopedists thinking it was from a lower back injury years ago. It crept creeping over my hip bone, down into lower right abdomen/groin. Doc said it could easily be swollen nerves from lyme bacteria. once i get enough abx in my system, it should go down. I'm just recently diagnosed, so still learning. But I spent 6 months trying to find source of back pain.
