I have read the research about long-term antibiotic use, and I am not questioning its need. I am just wondering if anyone has successfully been treated with 28 days of IV Rocephin. (This isn't what my LLMD is recommending, just curious.)

I have been sick for just about a year, but it's uncertain how long ago the tick bite was.

Lyme, Bart, possible Babs
Currently on IV Doxy, Bactrim, Zithromax, Nystatin, Mepron
Been on nearly every antibiotic since 10/09

About 60% improvement. Dizziness, air hunger remain.

I would say No. I was on it and then went off of it and landed up back where I was or worse.

There must be thousands or tens of thousands who did find success or there would be a national revolt over Lyme IMO.

I doubt it. My LLMD says that 28 days is essentially useless. 3 to 6 months is more appropriate. If someone has an infection so bad they need IV, they'll need it for a lot more than 28 days.

My friend was on it for 28 days in '06. Symptoms seemed to abate and then came back. Now she's on for 6 to 12 months.

That is a tiny bit. Are you sure you are really seeing a good LLMD? That does not sound adequate at all. Time limits should not be imposed on patients like that because we all need different lengths. You need atleast 8 weeks if it and that is if you JUST got bitten.

In June 2008 Family Physician did a Western Blot with Lab Corp which tested positive for Lyme. Prescribed 6 weeks of Doxy, felt great, and was informed infection was gone.

In the months that followed became very ill to the point I had to quit my job. Was informed it was not the Lyme returning.

Finally, March 2009 Family Physician reran Western Blot which showed Lyme positive. I was bedridden, could not walk or sit in a chair. Did not have strength to even brush my teeth.

During this time had never heard of a LLMD. My Family Physician had a conference call with an Infectious Disease doctor in Connecticut (unable to get help with local ID Clinics) and he recommended IV Rocephin.

Was only on it for 30 days, but I thank God because I feel the Rocephin was used to save my life. I can walk, breath, sit in a chair, etc., and am now working with an LLMD. Not where I used to be and very much not where I need to be, but IV Rocephin helped bring me one step closer.

Rocephin very much depends on the person. My sisters friend went into remission on it, but there are others who state it did not help them at all.

Lyme comes in three forms: cell wall, no cell wall, and cyst form. In order to prevent relapse it is important to take antibiotics that are created to address each form. As mentioned by Wild Condor, would be important to work with LLMD.

Wishing you the best. Rocephin was an important step towards recovery for me.

You will find what owrks for one may not work for another. i saw my friend use it for 3 months and she did great. She even stopped having seizures.

I am long term Lyme, was in remission for years recently became ill again and for the first time used rocephin for 30 days. It did nothing for me.

My LLMD just told me it dosn't work as well in late stage or long term old Lyme.

When waeighing your options, I say try anything that can achieve wellness or close to it...when dealing with Lyme.

My LLMD isn't recommending, my neuro is. Neuro is concerned that oral abx won't help with the CNS Lyme. LLMD says that he sees an 85% success rate with orals alone. When we start in the next couple of weeks, I want to hit it as hard as I can.
