Does Nystatin work the same as olive leaf extract or Oregamax? I think Nystatin would actually be cheaper for me since insurance will pay most. How many should I take per day? I am really battling yeast right now. I have taken diflucan for 3 days and want prevention now. Thanks, Jen -------------------- Tick bite May 2009 Diagnosed June 2009

I had thrush even before starting abx for LD, but it got even worse after I started abx. Diflucan did nothing for me. Nystatin is very safe. I ended up needing 2 tablets 4 times a day for several months to beat back the thrush. I now take a maintenance dose of 4 to 6 tablets per day. -------------------- Igenex WB IgM 28+, 31IND, 34IND, 41+ WB IgG 30+, 31IND,39 IND, 41++++, 58+, 83-93IND CD57 = 56 Prob infected since 2000 Doxy, Zith, Biaxin, Flagyl, Levaquin, Tindamax, Cipro Highly Recommended: Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Clair Davies

You need to begin slowly with the Nystatin. Just a warning. In the beginning, I worked my way up to 16 tablets a day. Stayed there one week, I think. Then went back down to maintenance dosage of 4 tablets a day. I would alternate it with natural stuff. I've heard that Nystatin can make you end up with resistant candida strains. So I would mix things up a bit! PS.. I'm sure the same thing can be said about Diflucan. -------------------- --Lymetutu-- Opinions, not medical advice!
