So I am reading about IM injections sides and getting kinda scared. Nerve damage, ischemia , tissues lesions (permanent?). Especially scary was the report on IM injections in cattle - they have photos of destroyed tissues and have to cut out up to a pound of meat due to it (http://www.mtbqa.org/06_02.html) - imagine that happening to you
Anyone who use long term IM injections experienced any of those bad sides?

I did bycillin and had no problems what so ever.
I read about those side effects... It sounds scary, but I never experienced anything like that what so ever and the bycillin really helped me. i am glad I decided to try the medication.

I have been doing IM for a year and a half now, on average 3 x a week.
I have not had any problems.
The nurse told me to move the injection sites around as much as possible. Also, it is a good idea to massage the area a day or so after the shot. She said it wa supposed to help prevent teh car tissue from buidling up, which is what can cause the tissue lessions.
Nerve damage can happen, she said, if you give the shot too close to nerves. Therefore, most shcools now teach IM injections into the hip area. go here for directions.
If you are worried about this, you should speak with your MD.

I mean I need my damn glutes - I plan to get back to squats, if I lose all muscles there due to necrosis treatment is no good then!

I've been getting bicillin shots twice a week for thirteen months. My llmd's nurse taught us how to give them.
I get the shots in the upper outer quadrant of my buttocks. Approximately where the little finger is on the diagram that Amanda posted.
Just ice the area first and rotate which side you get the injection on. Your body kind of gets used to them and it doesn't hurt as much.

Ceftriaxone left large, hard lumps. I had to quit using it because they were so painful.
It's been about 9 months since I stopped and I still have a few small lumps but they are not painful. I broke some of the lumps up with a massager.
I went through NAET for ceftraixone and will hopefully give it a try again.
It was worth the pain and lumps. I feel it helped a lot.

I also got lumps from IM cefotaxime (brand name Claforan.) I can feel a tightness in my legs there probably from scar tissue. The lumps did go down. I am kind of scared to do it again due to all the possible side effects I read about after I did them. Oh well. I guess we have to do what we have to do. I am back on orals now and dealing with the destruction of all my good gut bacteria, so I guess things can be rough no matter what road we are on.

I did bicillin shots for about 2 years with no problem. I had them done at the drs office though. They were the turning point for me.
