I feel things like chronic fatigue/cfids/co-infection of Lyme/same as FM/MS/ALS/Parkinson's/RA++++we are getting closer fining many co-infections or relationship as cancer has 100 diff. kinds.
So asking why is like saying why so many diff. side effects or co-infections of all diff cancers.
Least we are pushing CDC`s hands to recognize some these diseases they miss used our money on.
Problem is may be 10 yrs. so I fight for next generation if can`t get help for myself.
I do know what you mean, I suffer from too many co-infections & side effects I forget till they return.
Hang in there problem is nothing but maybe Sam-e? To help fatigue so bad that it really hurts.

I know fatigue is one of my "top 3" symptoms. One prominent CFS doc described fatigue as a 'defense mechanism'...our bodies do NOT want to expend any more energy than they have to to survive or we would truly die.

So...the fatigue is keeping us alive!! I'm sorry you're also suffering from this. As others have said, I guess it gets better once you've beaten this monster!!

Fatigue is and has been my worst symptom for the last 24 years. I truly thought I was dying before I got diagnosed. [shake]

Do whatever is necessary to get a good nights sleep every night. [sleepy] That is what has made the biggest difference for me.

I had bone crushing fatigue. Some days I could hardly get out of bed.

Turned out I've sustained extensive damage to my pituitary gland.

My endocrinologist started me on HGH injections which has helped me tremendously.

I am now walking about 10 miles a week and working out 45 minutes a day 5 times a week.

Hope this helps!

The toxicity of the infection puts a strain on every organ, every system.

www.townsendletter.com/FebMar2006/lyme0206.htm

BIOCHEMISTRY OF LYME DISEASE: BORRELIA BURGDORFERI SPIROCHETE / CYST

by Prof. Robert W. Bradford and Henry W. Allen - 2006

EXCERPTS:
. . .

A discovery of great importance relating to a toxin produced by the causative agent of Lyme disease, Borrelia burgdorferi, has been linked to a similar toxin produced by the organism Clostridium botulinum (botulism). . . .

[extensive explanation of:]

* Lyme Disease Toxin . . .

* Action of Toxin . . .

* Dietary Supplements in Lyme Disease . . .

. . . .

- Full article and great photos at link above.

-----------------------------------

NOTE OF CAUTION: While this is an excellent article regarding the information about the spirochete/cyst, there is one serious caution with one of the treatments suggested: Bismuth.

Bismuth, in various forms or methods of use, can (and has been) fatal. So, cross that off your list. If you download the article, please copy and paste this note to top your page.

Reading - and learning - about the nature of this infection is invaluable. The authors offer much in that regard, I just wish they'd adequately cautioned bismuth.

This worked for my fatigue: I took malic acid and magnesium, combined in the Supermalic product, and I got a lot of energy.

One of the things the bacteria does is rob us of magnesium, which is needed for our cells' ATP energy cycle.

Certain endocrine abnormalities develop with lyme too. One can be affected by adrenal fatigue, reduced growth hormone, reduced sex hormone levels, and hypothyroidism.

It's a multifaceted attack and many have suggested fatigue is one of the last things to go. Fatigue was a central issue for me.

Some really great answers here. There are so many reasons why lyme causes fatigue and they can be different for every person.

Fatigue has been one of my biggest symptoms. Recently Paw Paw seems to have made a significant difference for me. I'm still way below normal but better. I don't know if it will help anyone else. It apparently downregulates atp in abnormal cells. It seems to be hitting babesia for me. It is reported to treat malaria, a cousin of babesia. Babesia is known to cause significant fatigue.

I also take a thyroid hormone (liothyronine) and B12 and a mountain of supplements. NT energy factor helped a little. Malic acid helped a little, more when I first started it 8 years ago.

I've worked on the krebs cycle to see if I could get my atp working properly but that didn't seem to help a lot. It does help some people though. The right doctor can run some tests to check you krebs cycle.

Here is a good source of info for lyme and fatigue.
http://www.lymeinfo.net/fatigue.html

I've read that it is sometimes the last thing to go. Hang in there and keep treating. It will get better.

Many lyme patients are diagnosed from SPECT scans with hypoperfusion.

I've often wondered if the inflammation to the nerves/circulatory issues cuts down on proper red blood cell oxygenation to the tissues????? When you take that situation coupled with the systems' under attack you can more than your body can handle...

Seems like I am certainly not alone. I guess Lyme fatigue affects most of us. I just feel like I don't have any energy left to fight.

Fatigue.... my worst symptom! I call it the "death fatigue"! It is slightly better with treatment; but still when I over do it, I crash. Been in treatment a year and a half.

The fatigue is at a cellular level.
Am working on finding what may help at that level.

The LIVER is key. It can only do so much so fast. When asked to do more, fatigue is the result. Even with the very best liver support, the liver can only perform so well, especially since lyme toxins really hit it hard.

Ahhhh Keeb you are sounding like my mentor.

www.systemicformulas.com have 3 different mixed herbal formulas because the liver has...3 LOBES with some different functions.

Also have a very effective vitamin detox that can be combined with the liver support.

Mixed herbals are NOT just lotsa things thrown together. They are specific PARTS mixed in specific RATIOS to greatly decrease or eliminate side efects + enhance positive effects.

If interested call them + find a practitioner near you that has them.
