Recently ran into someone from my support group. She was doing fantastic, off antibiotics and very active.
I remember at the meetings she stated she was doing colonics once a week.
I am wondering if colonics has played a big role in her recovery.

I've never done a colonic, but I have used coffee enemas and they were a big part of my recovery .... they are not what made me well, but they helped tremendously with symptoms/detox.

Thanks Six! I do coffee enemas alot and swear by them as well for reducing lyme symptoms.
Just thought colonics would be better as it works deeper. Maybe helping with absorption of all the handfuls of supplements I take a day.

I just began doing colonics. For me, it's been very helpful.
My GI tract is pretty screwed up - VERY sluggish - the colonics really help clear things out.
I always feel SO much better and relieved afterwards. Definitely helpful with detoxing.

I did the Dr. Natura cleanse and was kind of surprised by all that got cleaned out. I think it had the same kind of effect as a colonic. I saw exactly what they show on their website (gross).
I've never had the nerve to go get a colonic .... someone else doing that for me ..... LOL

I do colonics once a week now and have been for a couple of months. I feel SO much better afterwards. It releases so many toxins that otherwise would not be able to be released.
I know a few people who say that colonics were crutial to their recovery from Lyme and Co's.

I tried colonics when I first became sick and was undiagnosed. They were very painful and made me feel much sicker afterward.
My GI tract did not respond normally. I have since been diagnosed with vagal neuropathy so that may explain why.
So, be careful. Colonics may be helpful but don't push it if things don't seem right.

I did colonics for about 10 years. I think that is why I did so well having Lyme for 24 years. I am having a colonoscopy on Tuesday (sis has colon cancer and family doc recommended). My LLMD thought I should do some colonics first.
SEcond one tonight and although I am not as sick tonight as I was last night this is a huge awakening for me.
I feel like I just reconnected with an old friend. I woke this am and leaped out of bed to let the dog out. No pain and no poisoned/toxic feeling, which I have every morning.
I really believe this is a great addition to my treatment.

I can't fathom the idea of sticking something in there. Though on some horrid days, I would've eated dog doo doo to feel better.

It really is no big deal. You think it will be, but then you do it and you are so, so grateful.
They are easy to get used to. I was horrified at the idea of them, but they really are a great tool.

Thanks for bringing this up you guys. My ND wants me to get them because I've had issues with motility since I was 3. It's always been a huge issue.
Is it safe for people with POTs and dysautonomia though? I'm worried about dehydration and/or electrolyte imbalances...I don't want my heart to go crazy...or to pass out...on the poor practitioner!

Issues with motility - you mean re your intestines functioning?
What's working for me, as a Lyme patient, is drinking mangosteen juice. It causes the intestines to be regular, like a baby's.
There are lots of brands available. I drink a little bit everyday of the Ultra brand, with 70 minerals added to it.
