Ceftin was always disgusting, but now that generic is available it's the WORST. The blue pill was bad enough to swallow- so bitter. But the white dissolves before you can even get it in your mouth practically.
I tried many means of taking it but the one that worked the best and recommended by my pharmacist was to cut the pills and put them into gelatin capsules, size 00. I could fit 1/4 pill in one capsule. It was SO, SO much better.
I'm off it now, but know alot of people still taking it.

cool someone on here also mentioned something I use to this day:
get a gulp of water but dont swallow, tilt your head back, drop that nasty bird right into the water and then swallow as you drop the pill in.

There is a generic available that is coated. The first month I got that. The second month, I got the kind that dissolved quickly. When I refilled it, I asked for the kind that was coated and was able to get it.
You could try calling around and asking different pharmacies about it. I know that different Walgreens use different generics sometimes.

Maybe I'm just weird, but I didn't have any problems with Ceftin and it's taste. It didn't taste bad at all to me. It was a generic, so I'm wondering if it may have been the coated kind that Jkmom is talking about. If so, def try to go that route. It wasn't bad at all!

The perfect solution for me was to buy empty gel caps (Vitamin Shoppe) and put the ceftin inside. I hope this didn't destroy the activity of the ceftin. It's just the chalkiest thing you can ever put in your mouth, besides chalk itself.
That was the most discusting thing I ever had to take. You might as well just be eating chalk. I'd gag on it, but it dried my throat out so much I couldn't breathe, let alone gag.
I had the same experience, I absolutely can't take it in the plain generic form they gave me without gel caps. Wish I knew there was a generic kind with a coating. I'll have to keep that in mind with all my chalky medications that get stuck in my throat or mouth.

What I found worked best for my daughter for Ceftin and Flagyl was to chop it in half and then
coat it in peanut butter. Pharmacist told us that and it worked like a charm. Someone else
told me about olive oil but if you can have peanut butter that is so much better.

It's easy...just eat it with food! I put it in a spoon of unsweetened apple sause and down it goes!
